Anyone know what the interest rate on the TISCO accounts that the JUST ONE and eSAVER will migrate to are ? Couldn't find them listed at Tisco when I last looked (and can't recall their new names). Thanks. I asked today and she said the "m-Savings" is 1.5%. I guess that's a mobile only account like the e-Saver is internet only. That's the one it will migrate to, and same rate as currently. "Basic savings" account was 0.X%, 0.5% if I recall correctly. "One Savings" account I forgot to ask. That's the account the Just One accs will go to. Those are the names of the 3 types of savings accounts on the front of the books we have. Just did a quick search on Tisco's website. Don't think there's a decent English version and couldn't find a choice EN/TH like there usually is. If if you swap the "th" in the URL below with "en" some of the headings come up in English but most of the text is still Thai www.tisco.co.th/RatesAction.do?language=th#swapped to www.tisco.co.th/RatesAction.do?language=en#Downloading the .pdf (only in Thai) I don't see either "One Savings" or "M-Savings" listed. My guess would be they'll be new type of accounts for Tisco, that they don't have yet, and it will be a new product created for them. Just to add: Although they've given us the Tisco passbooks, the accounts don't become usable as Tisco accs until 2 October (or thereabouts), so I guess that's when it will really be known. Even though we have the new books ready, they are still Stan Chart accs until end of Sep/ start of Oct. They've also given us ATM cards and I think same story, can't use till early Oct. Although you can chance your PIN after 5-7 days or so, but not much else Unlike Stan Chart their ATM cards can't be used in all other bank ATMs for free, and only free in Tisco ones. They have around 60 branches so choice will be limited. Looking at the product range on their interest rate schedule Tisco is more limited in choice

I think I'll be just pulling funds from all accounts close to d-day. All looks like a downgrade and no incentive to migrate. 1st impressions ain't good.

Just make sure you have alternatives set up first with other banks . It's getting a bit harder to open accounts these days. Also it's sometimes worth just maintaining minimum balances and keeping the accounts open as you never know what the future holds. I closed my UOB accounts years back. Wish now I hadn't

Went into Bangkok Bank Head Office today in Silom. Hadn't been there for years so had almost forgotten what it was like to be in the mass retail cattle class sector My 2 ATM cards had expired in 2014 and 2015, so I decided to get new ones. BBL's internet banking is fine and as Tisco don't have internet banking I can't see them being our main bank, or even used much at all. So I may be needing BBL again a bit more often. I asked for the cheapest ATM card they have. 300 baht. Seemed a bit higher than I remember but I guess it costs what it costs these days It was 500 for the one that has insurance attached but as I asked for the cheapest the nice young lady gave me what I asked Have to say the lady who served me was very helpful overall, and seemed to know a few other things I asked, like: - what's the level for Priority Banking (THB 3mn BTW and called Exclusive). - what if I want a credit card (need a fixed deposit as guarantee ) - update my address (was the place I used to live about 15 years ago with a couple more in between since then) One improvement is that she could also do some stuff for my other branch in Bangkapi/ near Sukhumvit Soi 10. In the past I had to go to both separately and make 2 trips. Don't know if that is because Silom is Head Office, but refreshing to move away from being stuck with going to the branch you opened an account at. The new ATM card isn't a visa debit one. They don't do Visa debits any more apparently. It can be used as a debit card though as part of the Union Pay and Thai payment networks, as well as be used as a rabbit card. Though you need to put money on at the BTS to use it for the BTS rabbit. I guess as it's not Visa it's probably not that useful outside Thailand. Anyway as Thailand always reminds us, there's only 2 countries in the world Thailand and not Thailand, and why would you want anything to do with the second one. All in all not too bad. I was a bit of a cheap skate and only got one ATM card. BBL look Ok, but I don't think it's likely to become our main bank, and I can just transfer online to use one acc for the ATM card. BBL is often useful though because of the large branch and ATM network, plus certain payments like my car or our internet service are limited to which banks they will allow payments from online. Neither the car or internet accepts Stan Chart online. So a big 4 bank like BBL is useful now and again. Next stop will be to check out TMB again. My ATM card with them expired end of 2016. Apparently you can go into any branch to get a new one. I know the staff well in Central Rama 3, but am tempted to try the one in Soi Lasalle a couple of km from Patana school Krungrsi also has one of the closest branches to our new home we'll be moving to. Anyone any comments on them by anyone? Will also be taking a look at UOB in Mega Bangna

Adequate enough, make sure they dont try and get you to buy some insurance products you neither need no want. Will also be taking a look at UOB in Mega BangnaUOB, , tried opening an account the other week, no WP no account they basically told me. In the next couple of weeks I have to go to UOB in Silom, will be interesting to hear what they have to say, , you want my money but wont allow me to open a bank account, no problem, close the investment account and transfer the money to my bank account I will then transfer it to an Aberdeen account.

If you persist you can often just move the fund management account without selling or much hassle. Care is needed with LTFs/RMFs though which may be affected by tax rules if not done properly Years back I had mutual funds direct with Aberdeen. I asked Stan Chart if they could take them over and use to count for Priority banking as I'd then qualify automatically, plus I was working for them at the time so was trying to show a little loyalty. At first someone said I had to sell and repurchase. Then they said I could pay a switch fee of 1%. I said would you like my business or not Please explain to Aberdeen I've been a customer for years and would now like the funds under Stan Chart's umbrella. It's in both your interests to keep me as a customer Otherwise if you're going to charge me I might as well sell them and move to somewhere else. Then you both lose out Sure enough they managed to waive all charges as a one-off. Your experience with UOB has reminded me that when I go to UOB and Krungrsi it might be useful to take my Stan Chart consolidated statements, so they can see the amounts we're talking and that they may well get the UOB / Krungrsi mutual funds and others as well as just cash. Basically on a mutual fund the annual charge is paid to the fund management account, but then they pay a part of that on to whoever is the selling agent. If you offer to make someone your agent, you make them aware of that. They should already know, but like in Stan Chart's case the staff member you talk to may not. Also worth reminding them they probably have asset under management targets (AUM) to hit and this is an easy way to make them.

Hadn't been there for years so had almost forgotten what it was like to be in the mass retail cattle class sector I've never left the cattle class sector when it comes to banking. I see little point in holding lots of cash, and rarely want to invest with the typically less-than-stellar funds that come with banks' asset management arms (and that's not just in Thailand). I do, however, not suffer when it comes to visiting Krung Sri. I visit a branch in an upmarket shopping mall in the outskirts of Bangkok. Usually there are only one or two customers there, so I've never had to wait to be seen. OK, I don't get the allocated parking space or free cinema tickets, but I can live with that. If I weren't fluent in Thai I might have issues dealing with them, but that applies to pretty much all branches outside major tourist areas. My main account is with Krung Sri. I've been very happy with them for well over a decade. (I started my life in Thailand in Ayutthaya, so Krung Sri was the obvious choice for a first account.) I like their "All ATMs" Visa debit card. Well worth the 3-yearly fee not to have to scout for my own bank's ATM machine. I also like their Mee Tae Dai savings account. In the past I juggled fixed deposits for Immigration's 800k baht. The rates for Mee Tae Dai are only fractionally less, and save my time checking rates and visiting banks.

That was the deal with Stan Chart. Visa debit card is useful, which is why I was surprised BBL don't do. Mee Tae Dee used to be good like Stan Chart's Marathon account. Both Consistently decent rates. I guess you're right on the allocated parking space. Depends where you are. Sathorn it's useful. Out in Soi Lasalle/ Bangpli we'll have to see what the parking is like although I think there's a Krungrsi branch in BigC. You forgot to mention the free coffee and other drinks The biggest thing I will miss though is a very good dedicated relationship manager. Very useful to have a single point of contact for any first question to call/email/send Line message. Also very useful if you are overseas. Bangkok Bank's call centre took me over 3 minutes to find the right combination before they kindly put me on hold when I got there. I got redirected back to the start twice. Press 1 for this 2 for that.... then find you've gone down a dead end for what you want.

Just dad a quick look at their website: www.bangkokbank.com/BangkokBank/PersonalBanking/SpecialServices/ForeignCustomers/Pages/Cards.aspxThey offer visa credit cards, but for their debit cards no mention of visa ? When did you last get one? I guess it's another thing I need to get used to if using BBL more. With Stan Chart I generally got straight answers, and even "let me check for you" where they didn't know. Rarely any BS. Never quite sure with BBL. Mass retail cattle class answers depend more on what the person you're talking to knows, what mood they're in, how close to lunch it is, their opinion of foreigners and the position of the moon etc etc etc and is somewhat more variable.

^^^ posted this on another forum, but its worth a repeat.
Years ago had a BBL account on On Nut soi 16, great little bank and a well switched on branch manager.
Was staying in the lower suk ghetto, walked into the BBL about soi 10, want to put this money into my account.
Must transfer into thai baht first mister.
FFS, walk outside and join the begpackers and cheep chalee types changing their $200, got in line.
Change this lot into Thai Baht please love, the Motorhead t shirt and shorts, coupled with the lack of shaving that day were probably why she looked at me like a POS.
Pommie Pesos handed over, every single one inspected, into the machine, brrrrrrp, brrrrrp, thats X pommie pesos sir, correct, please give me Thai Baht, sollee sir, not enough baht left.
Ok, how much baht do you have?
Answer, ok just change that.
Backpacker types and other assorted idiots heard mumbling, who is this effin twat.
Bar girls wondering if their latest conquest could get their money changed to pay their bar fine, etc etc.
Least of my effin worries, money changed, back in line with a shedfull of baht.
Solle sir, cannot put into your account, you must go to your branch in On Nut, deposit there.
FFS, why didnt you tell me that in the first place?
Another mistake, closing that BBL account on On Nut, NEVER and I repeat NEVER, close an account here.
