Did you actually get yourself registered for Mobile Banking Gavin?
We downloaded the apps and the wife and I went in today to 1) change all the ATM PINs 2) Update passbooks 3) Pick up Check books 4) Register for eStatements 5) regsiter for Mobile Banking
Mrs Smile's mobile banking is now up and running. As you say all in Thai but it looks quite good, and she let me have a play with it. My Thai's good enough for all this stuff anyway.
The problem was for some reason my registration failed and I got an error message. They said they think it's to do with my passport number format. I got an error message telling me in Thai that the passport number is incorrect. It wasn't, which is why they thought it might be the format of it. My passport has only 9 digits compare to 13 in a Thai ID card. They said the updated version towards the end of the year may be able to deal with it.
So I wondered: 1) Did you actually get mobile banking to work? 2) What format is your passport number in? Mine is just 9 digits (no letters) like 123456789 and is a UK passport number
If you actually got it working I may go back and try again

Fletch is now up and running on Tisco's eStatement. This is like a read only version of internet banking. You can see stuff but can't do transactions: - Summary page is "temporarily unavailable" - Bank accounts have your transactions since 1 October - Credit cards are also "temporarily unavailable" - For mutual funds you can see only mutual funds with Tisco Asset Management. i.e no Aberdeen, UOB etc. It also says "Mutual Fund (selling agent) is temporarily unavailable" After filling the form in for eStatement at a branch, the next step was to call the call centre next day which I did today. They then send an email with the details you need to complete registration online. Apparently the call centre is open until 6pm for English and 8 pm for Thai. On the mobile banking as the lady at the call centre was quite helpful I asked her about the mobile banking problems. Apparently a passport with only digits in it and no letters can't yet be accepted to the system. I expect this is because Thai passports numbers have letters then digits. I said that the Thai ID card has only digits (13 in all) and that is OK. She said yes for Thai ID cards digits only is OK. But apparently for passports it does need letters too. She said the next version would maybe allow for this and I should "call back again" (in future) but couldn't say when Cheers Fletch

Just a few more findings / Tisco experiences: 1) Other foreigners I know can't get on mobile banking either. My wife is fine. Both branch and call centre said I would need to wait for a software/system upgrade. Other non-Thais I know have had the same experience. 2) eStatement is OK. Sort of a "read only" internet banking. Can't do anything except look. The credit card part doesn't work yet, nor does the summary page - that's both for either me or my wife. While my wife's mortgage loan shows up, the savings account linked to Mortgage One doesn't. The Mortgage One account does show on mobile banking though, and very importantly you can move money to and out of the account - just need to add the account in the app first. 3) I knew they were not going to accept outward SWIFT transfers as that was well communicated. I have also been told they also can't do inward transfers. They do have a SWIFT code though: swiftcodes.org/bank/tisco-bank-public-company-limited/ To be honest as I don't have a full internet banking + no mobile banking, so my ways to get money out are limited + they don't seem to know what they're doing on international inward transfers I see no point taking the risk or trying SWIFT transfers in anyway. That would be just.... My workaround is to use another bank Other things to be careful: - If you used to pay your credit card by direct debit I have been told different things by bank staff as to whether this is still valid and will be carried over. I've been told we need to fill in new DD forms by more than have said I don't need to - For joint accounts you get only one ATM card. - For joint accounts- only the first named holder can add the joint account on mobile banking. Unfortunately for us all the credit cards were paid out of this account: mine, wife's etc. Now we have a situation where I can't do anything with the account because I don't have mobile or full internet banking, my wife can't do anything with it on mobile banking as she's the second name. - So we probably need to set up DDs for the credit cards from my Thai wife's single name account if we want to move money around digitally to have funds ready for the DD. - If you want to know your Credit Card balance you can ring the call centre. That seems still under the care of Stan Chart. You will keep Stan Chart CC's until they expire General work around though has been to almost empty most of the bank accounts and use other banks from now on With the exception of the Mortgage One savings account which is offset against the mortgage loan. For my Thai wife we can run most things fine, but for me as a foreigner, no internet or mobile banking, no online transfers, no online CC balance check etc means they won't be my main bank accounts any more. Also lost the facility where they send an SMS every time you make a CC payment or take money out.

A couple of updates:
Spent around 2 hours at Tisco's Head Office today. Mainly trying to sort out the mess on the handover of our various mutual accounts, but also a few other things
Did get a couple of other things sorted though:
Mobile Banking
For any foreigners wanting to use Tisco's mobile banking they have fixed the issue now about passport numbers.
Good news: I am now up and running on mobile banking.
Bad news: You can't use it to manage joint accounts, even if you are the first name on the account. It is only for accounts in single name. So for our joint account neither me nor my wife would be able to transfer any money out of it. Though I think we could transfer money into it as though it was a 3rd party account, like any other bank account
Bad news: The girls are too young to have mobile banking
E-Statement = "view only internet banking"
Good news: The girls can have it and should be up and running tomorrow. We applied today
Bad news: can't do much apart from look at your balances
Direct Debit for Credit Card
The automatic direct debit to pay off our credit cards was no longer effective from the switch over date, as the old account it cae from is no longer active
Good news: Have set up a new one
Bad news: The direct debit can only come from single name accounts. Previously all key transactions went thru our joint account. Now my wife has to have a DD from her account for her card, I have to have for my card etc. This is a pain as we used to pool money in the joint account.
Tisco Mutual Funds
If you had any Tisco mutual funds previously thru Stan Chart, you can register for online transactions via Tisco Asset Management. You can only buy and sell Tisco funds online. Not the other fund management houses like Aberdeen. This is similar to TMB / TMB AM who only lets you do TMB funds

Getting there slowly with Tisco. The girls now have eStatement. In case other people want to do: When I called the call centre for the second stage of the process today (a bit before 6 pm), the lady said she didn't speak English. So rather than get fobbed off, I carried on in Thai. It seemed to throw them that I was doing on behalf of my daughters. In fairness other banks have this problem. Last time when we did for me and my wife they asked to confirm my wife's details with her. So they went the same route again today. They asked to speak to my daughter and I think want to confirm details with them It was the same originally with Stan Chart. I explained their ages and I'm their dad. Put me on hold a couple of times then came back to tell me they would call me back. They called back about an hour later. Again explained I was their dad, and they seemed OK with things. I had their bank book and Thai ID cards to confirm the details. Just a couple of things of note: 1) The eStatement application form first needs to be completed in a bank branch 2) Next step is to call the call centre 02-633-6000 next day and once you get thru the call centre menu to banking services start the confirmation process 3) They then send an email in Thai and English which has the reference code etc to complete the online registration 4) Step 4 complete the registration online of note regarding the kids: 5) On the application form I could use another(my) email address. This can be different from the usual email address they have for the account holder in their records 6) On the application form I could use another (my) mobile number. Again can be different from the number they have in the system for the account holder. When you are finally registering at Step 4 though, it comes up with the account holders details automatically. Here the mobile number in their system is shown Bad news: I checked their mutual fund holdings online. Some are still missing . I have problems as well such as them having more than 1 passport number in their records (old ones not updated). For the kids part of the reason is is due to them being originally in the format "childsmile by fathersmile". Tisco doesn't do this. Also I used to sign their accounts, now they are also in single name (theirs) and not sure who should sign. But getting there. Cheers Fletch

I registered at my branch to be able to buy/sell Tisco funds online via Tisco Asset Management a few days back. I received an email and sms to my phone to complete the process today www.tiscoasset.com/en/home/You can only currently buy and sell Tisco funds online. This is similar to TMB which only allows to buy TMB AM funds online. The system seems functional, but a bit more basic than TMB's.

In case you missed it, TISCO did the dirty yesterday and dropped the rates on the One Savings and M Savings to a paltry 1%

Thanks for the heads up I don't follow their rates much any more as we've switched most of our money from their deposit accounts. Firstly because of concerns about ease of access and systems, and secondly because anything substantial has gone into our Mortgage One account, which is just a deposit offset vs our mortgage loan I had a quick look, and as you say there's some significant shifts downwards. Took a little while to find as old SCBT accounts are on a different rate sheet than the main stuff Main page: www.tisco.co.th/RatesAction.do?language=en# with SCBT being the 3rd box down

The good news for us - for now at least - is they haven't moved up their loan rates. Their MHR reference rate is same as 1 October 2017

Had a letter dated 31 March that said our credit cards will be transferred to Citibank. Could be an opportunity for a new banking relationship
