A bus driver in the Thai capital of Bangkok was today described as "a nutter" after he drove his vehicle through the streets of the city "wildly and without aforethought", in a manner unbefitting of a responsible professional, claims an Englishman who was on the bus.
Kody Woosnem, 52, revealed how he and several other passengers grimaced and winced as the driver rashly swung the number 108 bus in and out of traffic as it made its way towards Victory Monument on Friday evening.
Bangkok bus drivers are known locally as 'a rum lot', and the driver in this incident certainly fell into this category as he treated the bus as if it was a Formula 1 motor racing car, with little or no concern for the safety of his passengers, some of whom eventually stepped from the vehicle ashen-faced, and looking like they had just spent an hour experiencing extreme levels of G-force in a flight simulator. Many grumbled and gave the driver dissatisfied glances as they staggered away.
Said Woosnem:
"I wanted to get home quickly, but, and more importantly, I wanted to get home - in one piece. At no stage in the journey did I feel as if this was likely."
The bus driver, spoken to sternly by the lady conductor, laughed:
"You're lucky I wasn't in a hurry!"

Police later identified the French driver as "Alain" and said he had fallen on hard times in his retirement.
Due to his Elite card status he would be permitted to stay....so long as he moved to Samui and drove minibuses instead.
Reported by rooters (sorry no linky available)
