At least they don't send that type out to the "colony" these days. All we get now are those bloody Brit backpackers who get p**sed up and sing those terrible football club songs. I am sure the British government hopes they fall in love with 'roos and VB and stay there !   |

I think it may have been The Lizard of Oz who set up a reciprocal agreement, all we get now are bloody ozzies wearing state of origin rugby shirts, getting p**sed up on proper brit beer, none of that VB rubbish so loved by the hoons, twats like jason mullet donovan and effin kylie minogue, mrs effin mangel. Still never mind the LEGEND that is Alf Stewart is greatly accepted. |

It's a well known fact the Poms are too stingy to maintain a mullet hair-do, which is why 90% of the male population there sports a number 1 skinhead cut.

It's a well known fact the Poms are too stingy to maintain a mullet hair-do, which is why 90% of the male population there sports a number 1 skinhead cut. I had put it down to British men not wanting to spend half an hour in front of the mirror with a hairdryer in their hand. Metrosexualism didn't really take off in Pommyland like it did downunder. My own reason is the fear of getting wet (a throwback from a youth often forced to shower in freezing cold water at dawn). We sometimes used to skip showers and just spray t'armpits a can of strong deoderant also known as a Portuguese shower. |

There was a "hair revolution" in the UK during the seventies and eighties, caused mainly by the rock bands trying to out-do each other, and the general population copying them.
Seems that fizzed out and the number 1 skinhead took over, which made a lot more sense.
Have never heard of a Portuguese shower, the habit of spraying the armpits with deodorant is still known as a Pommy shower in Australia, and probably always will be.

Regarding The Church, yes they are a great band consisting of a few different nationalities over the years including Aussies, Poms and Kiwis.
I believe the lead singer/bass player was from Herefordshire originally.
I have been a big fan of their music since they first started, about 37 years ago and have a few of their albums on my hard drive and was surprised to see how many they have put out over the years.
Had a look on the BigOzine but could not find any of their music there.

Metrosexualism didn't really take off in Pommyland like it did downunder. Sort of relevant, Australian men do seem to have a different attitude to same-sex friendships from the UK. Watching MasterChef Australia over the years I've been surprised by the number of close friendships that pairs of heterosexual males have formed which have lasted after the series - most notably Ben and Andy. I couldn't imagine a similar thing happening in a similar UK show. And from My Kitchen Rules, there are plenty of male-male couples where the relationships is apparently not sexual, and the participants are apparently not gay. Indeed, Australians seem to have a more relaxed attitude to close male-male non-sexual friendships than in the UK (but are generally far more intolerant of male homosexual relationships). |
