Just a forty minute boat ride off the mainland to maybe the nicest resort on the island (while visiting we saw most all the other resorts). It was just a short trip and no need to spend any more than 4 to 5 full days on the small island. Blue Sky’s accommodations (and food) were surprising nice and something I didn’t expect. I would recommend it to others. The room (and sections of the resort),... First full day we had to map out most every beach on the island (second day by water). Aow Kwang Peeb You don’t want to tie your boat up along this beach. The locals will come out take pictures/call marine patrol/harass you. Aow Khao Kwai Morgan Village (Sea Gypsy) Aow Yai (Sunset Beach) Aow Ko Kyu Aow Mea Mai (same beach the Blue Sky Resort is on) We scheduled the trip to an island we haven’t seen with the idea of traveling to some diving sites while there. However the weather wasn’t working with us so we decided for a few short swims in the murky water around the island. If you would like to get away and spend some time on a small island with some welcoming locals, this might be the place to visit. I don’t know what the nightlife has to offer but I am sure you could find what you might be looking on Koh Phayam. Blue Sky Resort – Payam: www.theblueskyresort.com/Payam/?lang=ENKoh Phayam: www.kohphayam.org/If you need to rent a bicycle/long boat/motorcycle (some good kids own the place): 096-8502124/087-2848323 from the sky: If you want to do a stop before or after the island trip I would suggest staying at The Hidden while in Ranong. It is nice enough for an overnight stay: www.facebook.com/thehiddenresort/

^you’re welcome smokie. If you (or anyone else) are thinking about a stay at Blue Sky, look for their promotions. They might give you a nice discount if you’re able to find one (at their website). I think we received a 35% discount on our room. And again,....it is a nice island, but small. CEDE Boutique Beach Resort (we had dinner there one evening) – looked like another nice resort on the island (much less than Blue Sky): www.facebook.com/CEDE-Boutique-Beach-Resort-256613534486445/On a side note,........while on the island I did see rooms advertised for 300 baht (US$8.50) a night. I don’t know what you’re gonna get during your stay. These hotels were not along the beach but within walking distance and some looked alright.

Never underestimate the ability to take a thing of natural beuaty and turn it into a tip. Not a hippy, but even I can relate, Paved paradise and put up a praking lot, so true.

My wife and I had a great stay on Koh Chang a few years ago, stayed at a couple of places on White Sands beach. Great walking along the beach to that freaky bar built on the hillside. ^ Good post and pics sl
