You have my sympathy, SL, but I'm afraid you have to get used to people being astounded, amused, disturbed, afraid with what the USA seems to be getting into (or out of?). Nothing against Americans, just against their government.

Nothing against Americans, just against their government. BTW who does private person #RealDonaldTrump speak for? 46.1% of the voters thought he would speak for them. But I believe that number is dwindling
By the way - Trump was the biggest popular vote l o s e r in raw numbers ever to reach the White House. |

How painful and angering that this sort of phrase, usually applied to violent authoritarian dictatorships, is now quite rightly being applied to the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. How painful and angering that this sort of phrase, usually the exclusive domain of violent authoritarian dictatorships, is quite rightly now being applied to the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. As I told SL, better get used to it. President Trump seems bent on provoking, caring not one iota about existing relationships, treaties, rules, regulations. His Economic Advisors have simply accused China, Japan and the EU (especially Germany) of manipulating exchange rates to the detriment of the USA. WH spokesman is lying at every session. Take this as 'Trump negotiation tactics only'? Like real communists he uses his private tweets to threaten and his POTUS to show a bit more reason. A political arm and a more violent arm and one denying the other exists. |

Turnbull is doing exactly the same thing Trump is doing, desperately trying to look good "immigrant wise". The people detained in Australia's offshore detention centres are simply an annoyance to the Turnbull government which he is trying to palm off to Trump who is the last person on Earth to want them.
I am not going to comment on their phone conversation because I was not invited to join in. Obviously, going by the many comments on it, I was one of the few who was not in on it.
