Turnbull is doing exactly the same thing Trump is doing, desperately trying to look good "immigrant wise". The people detained in Australia's offshore detention centres are simply an annoyance to the Turnbull government which he is trying to palm off to Trump who is the last person on Earth to want them. I am not going to comment on their phone conversation because I was not invited to join in. Obviously, going by the many comments on it, I was one of the few who was not in on it. Yes. Hilarious and despicable that Obama, who promised to shut Guantanamo ( epic fail ) agreed after the Trump election to take in Australia's problem. An astounding act of immature political mischief by the outgoing president. Trump is right to tell Turnbull to go eff himself. |

Instead of palming their problem off to the USA, why doesn't Australia ship them back to where they came from, if they are so darned scary they cannot be allowed into Turnbull's country ?

Anyway, Trump (or the WH spokespeople) already confirmed to honour the agreement and allow those thousands of immigrants after some extreme vetting.
