A pity. Mostly use it twice a day between Sathorn and Nararam3. Special bus lane is very, very nice, especially around 7PM. Mind you, as mentioned, lots of Technic Krungthep students the first two stops at certain hours. Five Baht for a few stops is attractive. Also many passengers from Bank of Ayutthaya (Wat Dan stop). "City Hall to end Bus Rapid Transit service Bangkok's loss-ridden and unpopular Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service will get the chop at the end of April, seven years after it was launched. City engineers and councillors had studied the service and shared the decision to terminate it." www.bangkokpost.com/news/general/1193832/city-hall-to-end-bus-rapid-transit-service

"BRT chop a step in wrong direction At first I thought it was the seven-year itch that made the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) attempt to break up with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service. But subsequently, I've realised it has something to do with City Hall's unequal treatment of different groups of commuters. I don't think deputy Bangkok governor Amnoy Nimmano and others who decided to axe the "underused and loss-ridden" BRT by April have ever used, not just tested, the service or other forms of public transport. They scrapped the project during a meeting among themselves, without consulting BRT users and Bangkok residents. Once the news broke on Monday, complaints over the termination immediately emerged on social media." www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinion/1194845/brt-chop-a-step-in-wrong-direction

This morning students of Kasersart University taking a poll at the Satorn begin of the BRT line.
In the mean time it would seem the BRT will be continued. Too many protested and even k. Chuwit put his weight behind the BRT with his presence in talkshows and his facebook page.

Can't helped thinking how badly planned all this was in the first place, and then how unimaginative and lacking in business sense they have been once it was in operation. Big part of the problem is they have probably never cared whether it makes money or not, typical of state enterprises. Excluding of course the individuals making money on the contracts, or fitting the disabled equipment that doesn't work or has never been used. Flat low pricing seems stupid and lazy too. Fair enough to give freebies at the start or on special occasions for marketing and other purposes. But 10 baht is cheap and 5 baht ridiculously cheap. I doubt by halving the price they got double the customers . Have they done anything to estimate price sensitivity at all? 80% of respondents would like to keep it. OK so how mcu would they pay to use the service?would have been simple to ask that at the same time. I'd be OK for example paying 20 baht from NaraRam3 to Sathorn Seems stupid that people at the end of the line which is quite a distance pay the same as those going one stop. Can't think of many other undergrounds/sky trains or similar that do that. Fewer still that are profitable. Also wonder why they haven't considered privatizing it and let business people or people that might know what they are doing set the prices and run it. No doubt also a lot of wasted costs like the disabled stuff that doesn't work etc etc. BMCL which originally ran the underground service struggled financially at first. Being a listed company and a merger with another company ultimately saved it though. All in all a total balls up from start to possible finish in the way it's run

Current price setting is . Sathorn - Wat Dan 5 Baht . Wat Dan - Ratchapruk 5 Baht . Sathorn - Rastchapruk 10 Baht Like Fletch I'd have no problem if the price for Sathorn - Nararam3 goes back to 10 Baht as it was before, or even to 20 Baht. Still I think a special price for the TechnikKrungThep students should be kept in place. Very interesting is the Sathorn - NaraRam3 - uturn - back to Sathorn schedule in morning and late afternoon. Seems at least someone checked usage figures
