My old passport expires on the sixth next month, so on Wednesday afternoon 25 Jan I made an online appointed to apply for a new passport. Was offered and accepted 27/01 early morning, confirmation received via email as PDF. To print and show. Fill-in application form online and get PDF to print. A pass photo according to strict standard (available online). Copies of various pages of old passport. As proof of legal residence in Thailand I could use (copies of) my work permit.
Got to Embassy on Friday morning, consular section on soi TonSon. Register, smile at camera, open your bag, switch of mobile. Was early but almost immediately helped. "Oh, this photo shows a hint of reflection in the glasses. Make new ones". Luckily an enterprising Thai had set up shop opposite, could make new photo (without glasses to be sure) and just walked back and continued! Pay THB 4850 for passport which is now valid for ten years. Here your case number, can check online what the progress is. When come to get the new passport also need to bring THB 1120 as Immigration wants a formal letter from the Embassy stating "this passport #new is the replacement of #old" when you apply to have stamps and visa transferred. Seems recent request.
Yesterday afternoon phone call from Embassy, can come to collect passport. Today early morning got it with the form.
Total two weeks, not bad, not bad at all !

also need to bring THB 1120 as Immigration wants a formal letter from the Embassy Jesus wept, when I collected my new British passport last year the British Embassy had included the letter for immigration for free of charge. And I thought that the British Embaay were the biggest con merchants out there.

One declaration Plus copy of ID page old/new passport Euro 30.00 (THB 1120). The PP was Euro 128 (THB 4850) same as you'd pay in the Netherlands.
