And for AyG's benefit, there is a photo of a Permanent Residence Permit in the article, in fact they are not even called "Permanent" anymore offically by the looks of it...but simply a "Residence Permit" and Residence permit like a driving permit AKA a driving license, there are rules and regs you need to comply with to keep said permit

Here is another one...you have to read almost right to the bottom of the article before the real truth is let out the bag !!!! They are huffing and puffing because they believe the rules shouldnt apply to them with respect to the rules for PR However maybe the lady can move back to her homeland and when Mrs Krankie has her Braveheart moment, she and her husband will still be part of the EU Given he is into renewable resources i am sure Mr Krankie can put out enough hot air to power a few windmills www.theguardian.com/world/2017/feb/28/scottish-woman-and-french-husband-quit-uk-over-brexit

So conclusion the lady f--up. The law is right and just. The government formulating, promulgating and executing the laws is right and 'we, the people' who vote for the politicians who form the government are of course always right as well. I just looked in the mirror and got it confirmed from an impeccable source who wants to remain unnamed Our German friends were right, "Befehl ist Befehl' PS now checking who blinded Justitia

I just looked in the mirror and got it confirmed from an impeccable source who wants to remain unnamed Our German friends were right, "Befehl ist Befehl' PS now checking who blinded Justitia Well lets leave the political morons out of this for the moment, but the UK immigration laws are pretty well developed and fair IMHO...the lady either f--up or was playing a "game" and got caught out.. Lets take a drivers license for example, its your responsibilty to ensure you drive vehicles which fall within the terms of that license, its your responsibility to ensure you keep your license upto date and if you dont there is accountability and consequences In the case of Thailand if your on a retirement visa or a work permit, what happens if you dont renew them annually ?....they expire and you cant be in country...you have to leave A Residence Permit in a country is no different there are T&C attached to that permit or permission and it ones own responsibilty to Understand those T&C's and dont let the thing lapse or become invalid for some reason The fact is during the required 2 year requiredresidence period, if one has a legitimate need to leave the UK, this can be arranged without loosing your PR on a case for case basis, but 11 years out the UK is talking the micheal I would wager that if Singapore recognised dual nationality she would have had a British pp in flash

To repeat:
Laws for the people or people for the laws, that's the question. The moment the population grew beyond a handful and there was felt a need to organise, rule, control and judge things went wrong. Not saying we can do without, but most laws simply do not become more 'just' by being strict or having page upon pages of exceptions. A dilemma.
