An amusing comment coming from a Scotsman who supports an independent Scotland with no governmental control from those English people as your comments in the past clearly show, in reality the comments you make upon the matter concerning The English as such is of no real concern to you. You seem to think your opinions alone matter concerning a country or region you have neither an interest in or a loyalty to. This has nothing to do with the English or independence.

Apparently not all applications are granted, contrary to popular belief. www.redcross.org.uk/What-we-do/Refugee-support/Refugee-facts-and-figuresThe British Red Cross
How many asylum seekers came to the UK in 2015? The UK received 38,878 asylum applications (including dependents). This was less than Germany (431,000), Sweden (163,000), and Hungary (163,000). Just 45 per cent of cases were granted asylum and allowed to stay once their cases had been fully concluded. Many are initially refused because it is difficult to provide the evidence needed to meet the strict criteria of a refugee.

Mind you, with Britain being an Isle illegals have a harder time getting there than getting to Germany, Hungary, Greece and so. ADD: for discussions sake assume an illegal is a immigrant / refugee who didn't apply, or was rejected.

Of course, these are the somewhat official numbers which exclude illegals. Yet, according to the UK government "Most applications for asylum are made by those already in the country (90% of applications) rather than by people at their time of arriving in the UK at a port. Applicants tend to be young and male.". Why didn't the 90% apply the moment they arrived in the UK? Oh yes, they're economic migrants, not refugees. With all your knowledge and obvious experience I am surprised you are not busy working in this field rather than whining about it on internet forums.

Do you have anything relevant and factual to contribute to the topic, rather than the petty personal attacks? Still waiting for your "research" which proves the existence of immigration quotas. Or perhaps it's not me that's "FOS" and you're the deluded one.

You may be thinking of the European Union quotas for refugees. The UK government last year refused to participate. Apologies for tabloid-style headline. How does the UK come up with a figure regarding how many people they are going to allow in to the country ? Do they just keep letting them in then add it up at the end of the year ? If you believe that you would believe anything. The research I did told me it is not quite as easy as you and that other phobic Trump say it is to enter the country. You may be surprised to know the UK is relatively strict in this regard, as is the USA.

That is exactly how it works. Any EU member can come to the UK, no questions asked. There is an unlimited number of refugees/economic migrants allowed in. And anyone from outside the EU meeting immigration criteria is allowed in. And at the end of the year they tot up the numbers and publish them.

When I lived in South London in the noughties all the minicab guys were illegally working immigrants from Asia and Eastern Europe. They were totally unregulated and gave not one <duck> cos they knew the Labour government didn't either. This is from personal conversations with a number of them. For me I don't care....at least they worked and earned their living. I'll wait for someone to mention taxation and giggle to myself in the corner with a few beers.

In other words, she should have left her parents to die alone. No need to care for old people! At times I really do wonder about you, Bleth.
