Aged 18 at the time. Attempted rape, the girl fought the cousin off. Went to her Dad, who shrugged his shoulders. Went to her brother, he did nothing.
She worked her way through uni, then landed a decent job in BKK. 25,000 a month. Her Dad bled her dry.
She took a nervous breakdown, lost her job, recovered, and moved to a decent job in Chiang Mai.
Been here for four years and hasn't set foot in her family home in all that time.
"I'm never, ever going back."
She sends 3,000 baht to her Mum and talks to her once or twice a month.
"I prefer once, but I often get a call asking for more money. I can't tell her how much I make, I tell her I'm broke."
Thai families, huh?

We have them in Australia as well, any Aussie could tell you similar stories about families they know and the shite that goes on. I have heard lots of horror stories since I first came to Thailand regarding family members bleeding the others (money earners) dry. The guy I mentioned that lost his house to that pig, her brother harassed the hell out that guy to buy him a new tractor. Wish he had have tried it on me, would have had great pleasure telling the lazy, money-hungry prik where to go.

The UK has families as bad or worse.
Sad state of affairs some families really.
