What's happening in my town is Indians have been buying them, and suddenly the staff all seem to be fresh from India. Not cheap franchises so not sure where all the moneys coming from. One investment visa and the whole family can come. 457 visa you mean? Finally after the chinese and the likes gave that visa a good thrashing , the govt is wising up and making it harder. Bad luck , hire locals.

Sounds like England might be a bit different to other parts of the world. Some places have been using imported pickers for generations. That's why there are so many Indians in Fiji, the English brought them there to work on the plantations. The local natives would not do it, they lived well enough off yams, coconuts and all the seafood they could eat. I would like to see what happened if they took every Mexican out of the USA tomorrow. Wonder if all those jobs they are "stealing" would be snapped up by out-of-work American farm workers and manual labourers. I doubt it very much. What would happen is the people who have been employing them would suddenly have nobody to fill those positions. Funny thing is a lot of those farmers who employ those Mexicans are probably Trump supporters. Ask the farmers in Australia who rely on Brit and European backpackers to harvest their crops every year. If it wasn't for them they would not have anyone to do it. Friend of mine in Gunnedah NSW has two big Case harvesters, does the season from QLD down to VIC every year Oct - Jan. Relies on Brit backpackers to drive his machines, cannot find Aussies who are willing to work those three months of the year. The USA has a legal immigration programme for Mexicans. I've stood and watched the queue to apply in Guadalajara. Also had Mexicans complain to me that they have took the time and money to do the right thing, while others pay people traffiickers.
