Sounds like England might be a bit different to other parts of the world. Some places have been using imported pickers for generations. That's why there are so many Indians in Fiji, the English brought them there to work on the plantations. The local natives would not do it, they lived well enough off yams, coconuts and all the seafood they could eat.


I would like to see what happened if they took every Mexican out of the USA tomorrow. Wonder if all those jobs they are "stealing" would be snapped up by out-of-work American farm workers and manual labourers. I doubt it very much. What would happen is the people who have been employing them would suddenly have nobody to fill those positions.
Funny thing is a lot of those farmers who employ those Mexicans are probably Trump supporters.

Ask the farmers in Australia who rely on Brit and European backpackers to harvest their crops every year. If it wasn't for them they would not have anyone to do it.

Friend of mine in Gunnedah NSW has two big Case harvesters, does the season from QLD down to VIC every year Oct - Jan. Relies on Brit backpackers to drive his machines, cannot find Aussies who are willing to work those three months of the year.
