Funny ! I wonder if they will turn their attention to those thieving scumbags that control the 7-11 franchises over there ? I would not know who was working in Maccas, have not been to one in years. The guy who served me was Liberace gay to the power of ten ! It was quite funny seeing even the Thai people in the shop react to how "out there" he was. Was worth going in there just for the show !

No idea what magnificent salary those FF-chains offer, but if the locals are not interested either salaries (and prices) go up or shops close. Not having been in a FF-chain 'restaurant' for a decade or more I must admit I couldn't care less

A good thing too. They were the best employer of University student labour at one time. This enabled students to earn enough to provide their needs provided they had family accomodation etc. Then someone got the bright idea of importing full time Phillipine labour.. Some of them were nice and were capable but it took the food out of the mouths of students. These jobs did not attract Uni graduates which the Phillipinos were for the money they were prepared to spend. Very poor move. It is good to see it stopped. www.smh.com.au/business/retail/mcdonalds-lowers-its-tax-bill-as-profits-soar-20160626-gps2b3.html

We used to pick raspberries at home in the summer until the farmers brought over a bunch of Romanians.
Wasn't so nice when they chopped up the only hard working and saving one when she refused to bail out the slackers debts with her cash.
Parts of the body were washing up all over the beach.
Utter <c**ts>....I bet the next gen are still working there though.

Sounds like England might be a bit different to other parts of the world. Some places have been using imported pickers for generations. That's why there are so many Indians in Fiji, the English brought them there to work on the plantations. The local natives would not do it, they lived well enough off yams, coconuts and all the seafood they could eat.
I would like to see what happened if they took every Mexican out of the USA tomorrow. Wonder if all those jobs they are "stealing" would be snapped up by out-of-work American farm workers and manual labourers. I doubt it very much. What would happen is the people who have been employing them would suddenly have nobody to fill those positions. Funny thing is a lot of those farmers who employ those Mexicans are probably Trump supporters.
Ask the farmers in Australia who rely on Brit and European backpackers to harvest their crops every year. If it wasn't for them they would not have anyone to do it.
Friend of mine in Gunnedah NSW has two big Case harvesters, does the season from QLD down to VIC every year Oct - Jan. Relies on Brit backpackers to drive his machines, cannot find Aussies who are willing to work those three months of the year.

Would you work for the pay your mate gives his backpackers for the hours and condions they live under. The answer is almost certainly not if you can help it. This shows the pay is not enough and they can only get away with it by using imported labour. I have seen very few jobs that could not easily be filled by Australian laour if the right pay and conditions are given.

The pay rate is not always the issue, it's getting people to go out bush for three months straight at that time of the year, when most people are laying on the beach drinking beer. These guys are not idiots, they are switched on young guys from the UK who are backpacking around the country. They are not going to work for peanuts. When I get back I will give him a ring and see if I can find out what the going rate is, will let you know. I actually spoke to him about doing a season with him early in 2015, but ended up in hospital in March, so that was the end of that. Could probably still drive one, nice big air conditioned cab, just sit there and push buttons on a computer screen and let it steer itself. That's if I could get up into the cab.

Operator with some experience required in next 2 months for pasture/cropping program in Western Victoria. Experienced Tractor Operator 13 Apr 2015 Travellers At Work Temp South Australia $22/hr Immediate start for experienced farmhand / tractor operator to assist at seeding time on a large cropping and sheep property near Ceduna. Tractor Driver and Farm Hand 13 Apr 2015 Travellers At Work Temp New South Wales $22/hr Looking for a male 21 or over who is a non smoker with farming and tractor driving experience. deduct tax and accomodation. But from July 1 2016, foreign workers will be considered as non-residents for tax purposes, meaning they will have to pay tax at 32.5pc on every dollar they earn up to AU$80,000. that would give somewhere round $450 a 40 hr week about the same as the age pension.

There you go, would have meant I would have been getting just on half what I was being paid in the mining game, fabricating steel, repairing trucks etc.

Funny ! I wonder if they will turn their attention to those thieving scumbags that control the 7-11 franchises over there ? I would not know who was working in Maccas, have not been to one in years. Last time I stepped foot in one was the one in the Night Bazaar road in CM. Wife was pregnant I think and had a craving for their spicy chicken wings. The guy who served me was Liberace gay to the power of ten ! It was quite funny seeing even the Thai people in the shop react to how "out there" he was. Was worth going in there just for the show ! What's happening in my town is Indians have been buying them, and suddenly the staff all seem to be fresh from India. Not cheap franchises so not sure where all the moneys coming from.

I didn't realise Aussies had their own fast food.
Surely timtams don't count?
Adding beetroot to a burger isn't a unique produt either....just a bunch of kangaroo rustlers.

Our fast food is when the roo is going too fast to catch it ! I think it was around 2010 I walked into a Seven in Brisbane, in Riverhills, and there was an Indian guy behind the counter (surprise, surprise) and I made the mistake of asking him if had been watching the cricket on TV, he started going off saying things like - "What, just because I'm Indian you assume I follow cricket ? I hate it, think it's a stupid game blah blah blah" Got my change and told him to stick his shop up his arse and have never stepped foot in one since (in Australia) (Found out later India were losing the cricket at the time)
