Oposite the famed daddy of all CM restaurants, Riverside. The food is excellent and good value, with the restaurant attracting a slightly older crowd than the original. The Hurricane commented she had never seen so nany beautiful and stylish Thai women in one place.
Live music was decent, a couple of ropy attempts kept afloat with a decent rendition of The Wall, among others.
Two man-made water features add to the place, and it's a large restaurant with a front garden, inside sitting area, plus substantial beer garden at the rear.
Recommend.

Which are the 2 riverside restaurants next door to each other , 1 is like a big wooden hut and the other has a boat with a small jetty? Both of those were great.

I really liked Davids Kitchen in CM, Dave himself is a true gentleman
Was in there for the NYE set menu, a bit of an oversight on my part i guess beef consomme was on the menu, Mrs S doesnt eat beef, Dave said himself should have thought about that being Thailand, and should have offered two options
the "offending"consomme removed, "please wait for 5 minutes", a lobster bisque was made and given to her with their apologies

Goodview is right next door to Riverside, owned by a former partner of Riverside. Usual business dispute, blah blah. Riverside 2 is across the road from Riverside. I met the farang owner of Riverside two years ago. Interesting guy, has his ups and downs in this city. Said he had six women on the go at one time, thinking he was superman. "Never again." Married, divorced, gifted a house to his adult daughter, she moved the divorced mother in. "Thai culture, can't do anything about it." Businesswise - "I gave 120 staff. The bulk have been with me for years. They are difficult to replace. I think that's my biggest challenge." Retirement? "Nowhere near it, every time I get ahead something crops up. That house I gave my daughter a prime example. Worth a fortune, now worthless to me as I can't live there. I need to keep working to build up more capital." |

Without a doubt the best restaurant i have been to in Thailand, and would even suggest one of the best restaurants i have eaten in ever, the food is superb, but its the service and attention to detail that takes the place to a whole other level, right from driving into the place, there is someone there from the restaurant NYE greeted at the door by the owner and his wife, sat and had a drink with him in the bar, shown the table by the staff, and he is always about, checking if everythings ok etc, but at the same time, not overbearing davidskitchen.co.th/ |
