Traffic levels are getting out of control. Bottlenecks emerging everywhere including the infamous Maya junction.
Superhighway is undergoing construction work, another nightmare.
But the new hellhole is from Mae Fak through Mae Jo on a Friday evening. Deathwish 2017.
Three drunk drivers swerving all over the road, running across three lanes in Mae Jo. The usual mentalist drivers, the usual lunatic motorcyclists. Which is a bit unfair on the majority who recognise how dangerous this wide highway is and drive defensively.
But there's always one, or two, or two dozen in this case.
I'm at the point now I loathe driving in this city during daylight hours. Police checks all over the place, causing tailbacks. Immense amounts of commercial vehicles, and every day this week I've seen the aftermaths of motorcycle accidents.
As a pedestrian, crossing the road in Nimman or around the moat is a risky business. I often see tourists sranding bemused by the side of the road waitibg for a gap in traffic. And we all know that Thai drivers disregard pedestrian crossings, especially motorcyclists. I now fear sitting at a red light in case I get wiped from behind, as happened to my Muay Thai trainer. I spend more time looking in my mirrors and doing the 'lifesaver," look than looking at the road ahead at times.
And the worst of it all is? I can't see it getting any better.
Oh, well.

Try to promote 'special' bus lanes. I think the CM Authorities should also set up a local law allowing them to shoot personal vehicles on those lanes to make it work

Well one could always be on the open road and that has its surprises too.

Not going to comment on that because I have nothing good to say about it.
What is it about black cars in this country ? We take our boy to school and pick him up every day in our car, won't let him go in a song teow or by motorcycle. Every day, at least once going either way we see some nutter in a black car do some crazy overtaking. I always think "I hope they don't hit someone on a bike or a family in a car, preferable a very large tree"

No such issues in Loi Kroh.
I never leave the street as only difficulties such as having to speak Thai and behaving like a human being can come from frivolous carelessness.
