Netherlands bars Turkish ministers as 'Nazi remnant' dispute escalates Riot police clash with Turkish ex-pats after members of the Erdoğan government are prevented from campaigning among supporters The Netherlands has barred Turkish ministers from speaking in Rotterdam in a row over Ankara’s political campaigning among emigres, leading President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to brand its fellow Nato member a “Nazi remnant”. The dispute escalated into a major diplomatic incident on Saturday night when Turkey’s family minister was prevented by police from entering her country’s consulate in Rotterdam. Hundreds of protesters waving Turkish flags gathered outside, demanding to see the minister. www.theguardian.com/world/2017/mar/12/netherlands-bars-turkish-ministers-as-nazi-remnant-dispute-escalates

They did that yesterday already. As for protesters demanding to see the Turkish MoFA, no problem. They can buy a ticket and see him in Ankara. Regarding the Turkish Minister for Family Affairs Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya who came to the Netherlands a bit earlier to campaign for the elections in Turkey, she's been declared 'unwelcome stranger' and returned to Germany (where she came from). Almost war, but I'm sure Boris Johnson will save the day as he was always in favour of being milder with Turkey "Turkish PM vows ‘harshest’ retaliation amid tensions with Europe Turksih Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has vowed to take the most severe retaliatory measures after the Netherlands barred the flight of the Turkish top diplomat and deported the country's family minister." www.presstv.ir/Detail/2017/03/12/514015/Turkey-Netherlands-Binali-Yildirim"The Latest: Turkish prime minister vows strong response Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim says his country will strongly respond to Dutch authorities' "unacceptable treatment" toward Turkish ministers who were prevented from addressing Turkish citizens in the Netherlands. In a written statement released early on Sunday, Yildirim also urged Turkish nationals living in Europe to remain calm and not fall for provocations. He also asked them to cast their votes in the April 16 referendum saying it would be best response to the European nations." bigstory.ap.org/article/5aa25770911f4f44b511c8fa417b4fc0/latest-turkish-opposition-leader-blasts-dutch

Apropos of nothing does anyone here still remembers President de Gaulle's speech in 1967?
"Général Charles de Gaulle: «Vive le Québec libre!»"

The Dutch saying doesn't come to mind at the moment, but may range from 'biting off more than one can chew" and "action leads to reaction"

What country allows another country to hold an election/referendum rally or campaign within in it's borders? Either watch on line, or as Rubi said buy a fight home.

Erdogon is fighting for his political survival and of course nationalism patriotism xenophobia etc become wonderful flags too rally the masses to and for them then to follow.
What was it Samuel Johnson said?
Followed up with a Umberto Eco quote which encapsulates the scene succinctly

BBC- Erdogan tells Turks living in Europe to have "some" babies to answer the insults against them. Some countries may need the extra population as the locals are producing less and less. Mind you, I think the discussion on dual citizenship will become a hot topic
