No argument from me about Changi...great airport....even the new process of finger printing is done very professionally, and when you leave the country you can use their " e gates" once your in the system even though your not a citizen/PR/workpass So one less stamp in your pp Swampy always was and always will be some incomplete "industrial complex" post modern design that really blows, worked on some refinerys that were better finished off than Swampy, its just a bad design from a guy with an obsession with stainless steel scaffolding planks

At least Bangkok now has a pub even if it is the crappy Bill Bentley. Not that it bothers those of us using the new CX lounge .

In which way can Swampy be improved? Quicker immigration and security on departures. Flying economy there is a nightmare. So I'm told anyway.

In which way can Swampy be improved? In no particular order: Get rid of the thieving baggage handlers. Reduce the space allocated to King Power. Some diversity in the duty free shopping - no high priced monopoly. Reasonably priced, better quality food. (200 baht for pre-cooked pad thai is a blatant rip off.) More seating, and more comfortable seating. Better temperature control. Smiling, fast and efficient immigration staff. Less walking distance. Better toilet cleaning. Clearer announcement system. Another runway. Elimination of cheating taxi drivers. More reasonably priced garage parking, and more of it. More frequent shuttles to the long stay parking area. More greenery inside the terminal building. Fewer clueless and/or rude Chinese tourists.

The majority of your complaints are those of the economy passenger who thinks that £4 for Pad Thai in an airport is a rip off. Ffs.

The real culprit behind all these complaints is the airlines.
£400 return flights or less from the UK. AIR INDIA last week offering £232 one way from Heathrow.
The infrastructure being oveloaded by cheap charlie travelers who demand five star service.
The best thing the Thai gov could do to hammer down on this is to raise the airport tax.

Thai Air is a cheap charlie airline as well in that they will not pay the sky way fee on some of their flights and bus their passengers around at their home airport...flew Thai for the first time in a good few years internationally a few weeks ago and the standards have really gone down the shitter from what i remembered With respect to Swampy, they need to get some "soul" or personality in the place,

I would challange your remark about parking prices...under cover thb 250/day, parked the car there for 3 days a few weeks back USD 21 for 3 days do that in any big nternational airport Although i do agree the immigration lot can be miserable kants at times

The Middle East airlines are contributing to a capacity boom, which is causing infrastructure stress.

Just want to clarify something -
I'm not having a go at economy passengers. I'm having a go at the airlines for ridiculous pricing.
The only way to improve the infrastructure is investment. The investment would/could come from the airlines, dampening demand and improving facilities.
An extra 1,000 baht tax on flights would generate about 45 billion baht a year. Serious money for a government short of money.

The infrastructure at swampy is not "bad" its just ill concieved, and " poor" design and doesnt " reflect" thailand as such
