closer to home even various attempts to remove Fidel Castro weren't really successful.

BTW on of the problems which occurred after the fall of the Eastern Europe Communist states was that people felt lost. All of a sudden they not only could think for themselves, but they even had to to survive. Now for many that was so novel as to require proper guidance by former Communist Party members!
