I wonder if there has ever been a study done on studies ? And if so, and the findings were that studies are not worth a cracker, then nobody would take any notice of this latest study either.  |

Vellum, made from cows, or to be more precise "calf skin", so you should be safe, old chap Calf skin is thin, which means those cute little things are snowflakes. It hurts me to admit it but when I first started school we used slates, like Fred freaking Flintstone. Tried explaining this to my son the other day and he looked at me like I was spinning him another bs story. |

^^| Slate? Wow, that's real progressive PS don't tell anyone, but I also remember slate and even slate-like stylusses to scratch on the slate. Much better acoustics than chalk |

Is there a 'books' subforum on the BM? I just 'stumbled' over a pile of books (epubs that is) written by Gerald Durrell and I don't think he fits under 'literature' like his older brother Lawrence. I probably started reading his books when I was 12 or so, just starting to get a grasp on English. Gerald Durrell wrote many books like "My family and other Animals" (1956). Seems as a child he told his mother he wanted to have his own Zoo. He managed that in 1959. Many of his books relate to his trips looking at animals, but he also wrote some fiction.
