I could write a book about myself as could many other, but why bother?
Backpacking through Iran in the 70's, sipping coffee in Syria. I think about 400 international border crossings in 50 years.
Memories for me, trivia to another.

After some of the absolutely brillant bollox i have written over the years i would love to write a book
One of the funniest IMHO was the on going saga from multiple people on the other channel about the BBQ, Pattaya baht buses, leather clad immigration officers and digital pikeys running away from the law, the saga was hysterically funny until the gestapo got the hump and shut the thread down

I still laugh just thinking about JT's thread about him almost losing his life to those bloodthirsty Iranian drunkards on that baht bus. The more crap he copped over it the more he whined. Possibly the funniest thing I read there in the nine years I was a member. I love reading good travel stories, and even better hearing them from the travellers. When I was in Nepal and Tibet I went mad on books about Everest and the region in general. Still reading that stuff today, 10 years after first going there. A travel thread is good value, everyone has stories and pics to contribute, and we have all been somewhere that someone else hasn't. My old man gave me a Readers Digest World Atlas in about 1965, and I have managed to hang on to it all these years. Plan on giving it to my son once he gets past the stage of wrecking everything he gets his hands on.  |
