I agree, there's no punishment in repaying what you owe. The other side has a few high profile members who never miss a chance to hit the moral high ground. I know for a FACT they include Brits defrauding the DWP, and guys defrauding their credit card companies. The DWP should ask for acess to the non-O visa holders files in Thailand and compare it to their records. They'd uncover multiple thousands of frauds. Multiple thousands. They'd also uncover several people of interest to the police.

Of course, lets face facts, the requirement and criteria to obtain long term visas in Thailand is far too slack and Thailand should get in line with other countries who allow long term "residents" whether for retirement or other 1. Police clearance report for all those staying in Thailand on 1 year extensions and visas 2. Full tax clearance from ones home country, ie they have declared their intent to leave their country and live somewhere else in the world 3 Full tax and income disclosure in Thailand and register as a tax payer in Thailand 4 Thailand signs up for the automatic data sharing with residents home countries as regards bank accounts etc

No need.
You have some information, send it to the D W P names etc, there is a provision to inform the D W P and H M R C and other organisations both state and private concerning fraud(s). , However of course the snag is would investigators be sent here and if so what powers do or would they possibly have?
The same goes for the credit card companies and of course tax evasion ,the list is pretty long.
Concerning co-operation on visa's, all well and good. Somehow though I can't see that happening also such a request may well raise the question of the investigators visa status.
One would presume a diplomatic visa could well be the answer if the D W P. H M R C. assorted police authorities and the credit card and insurance and assurance companies, private pension providers etc were to go down that road.
Anonymous informant methods are tried and tested, I know they work from past experiences.

The UK government needs to get more proactive and put an end to this appalling "entitlement," culture. Inter-government cooperation to end criminal activity and fraud should be a given. And it would assist Thailand in their "good guys in, bad guys out," policy.

I see several outlets sharing the Elite Visa programme in the last few days, with Thailand encouraging Brits to move here. I would say it's in the interest of both countries to cooperate.
