Thanks Sp, I am taking this all in. The reason I am applying in Australia is because of financial reasons (two years out of work) it is easier to get the marriage visa in Oz, have enough monthly income to qualify, don't have to have 400k in the bank. Once I get it I can renew it in Thailand by showing income statement and I believe I need a stat dec from the Australian Embassy. Hope I have this right. For married extension in Thailand , if memory serves, either 400k in the bank OR thb 40k/m income and think they may even consider combined total as well, ie your lump sum + monthly must be equal to or exceed 400k You now need documentation at the Australian Embassy. Mixed income and bank does not apply with Marriage Visa only Retirementwhich neeeds 800k

Sorry, what do you mean ? What documentation do you need ? And do you mean you have to take bank statements to the Australian Embassy to show before you sign the stat dec ? If so that is not a problem.

As always with these immigration things never one answer and devils in the detail The income can come from anywhere....you declare it but you must show evidence now your responsiblity to do that not the Embassy's. You do not need an income statement if you have had the money in a Thai bank for the required period. You then need bank statements and letter from the bank. You do not need to go to the Embassy then.

Just to be safe I will go to the Australian Embassy in BKK with copies of the last 12 months of bank statements and ask for a stat dec based on that.

I can understand temporary visas to fill required skilled positions, but these 457 visas are being used for labouring jobs while willing local workers are being rejected.

All to do with cash generation for certain Aussie business', it was being abused in the Aussie offshore game, the agencies were bringing in foreigners to do skilled jobs at low rates, and charging the end user or client Aussie rates, these companies made heaps of cash like this for example, need a good piping engineer ?....bring in a Russian at USD 500/day and charge the company they are providing services to USD 1800 or 2000 day for basically doing FA, same position filled with local Aussie, USD 1000 to 1200/ day they would want

I have seen 457 visa holders who can't speak a word of English pushing brooms. And trying to find a Doctor who isn't from India is near impossible.
