John Safran book extract: Inside the twisted logic of Australian ‘patriot’ Ralph CerminaraThis article made me laugh, for a number of reasons, maybe it just appealed to my twisted sense of humour. Written by John Safran, .........."an Australian radio personality, satirist, documentary maker and author, known for combining humour with religious, political and ethnic issues. it is about his meeting with Ralph Cerminara, who ..........."once led the Australian Defence League, an anti-Islam group"......... Ralph is a devout right winger who has an Italian immigrant Father, and an Aboriginal Mother. Also he is married to a Vietnamese lady, an immigrant. I found myself swapping Ralph's name with certain other peoples' names which made the story even funnier. The last bit, where Safran dresses like a Jew and walks through a very heavy Muslim suburb in Sydney, to see if he gets beat up or not, is hilarious. I have been watching Safran on TV and listening to him on the radio, for years. His arguments with Catholic priest Father Bob regarding "God" on triple j radio were great (Safran does not believe in God) He has the knack of making people laugh at topics that are usually rather serious.
