If you have overseas license just convert it, no need test Here in Bkk, WRONG, you will still have to do the normal reaction, colour blindness tests etc etc. Problem is, every district is different and has their own rules. |

Don't you need an "international license" before you can convert your home license to a Thai license? NO, if you mean an IDP, I did mine with only a Brit license. |

No offence, by doesnt have a licence, do you mean never had one, or doesnt have one because suspended due to drink driving? If the former and only a tourist, stick to taxis and public transport. No licence, as in never have driven, please dont tell me your friend intends to drive a motorcycle here, which I presume will be rented, with at best dubious insurance, and doubtful if it includes the 645 baht death insurance. Sorry to be blunt, tell your friend to do himself and those of us who drive here, please stay off the bloody roads, he will be nothing but a menace to other road users. |

Watched a gobshyte digital pikey type being tossed out of the place in Udom Suk for turning up wearing shorts. His problem wasnt the shorts, it was when he started getting gobby the officer pointed to the sticker on the wall about, NO SHORTS, and tossed him out. If he had kept his gob shut he would have been processed and on his way. I aint ashamed to say, I almost got a hard on watching his reaction, even better was the look on his Litten Leks face, as the officer brushed her off with just the wave of a hand. As the Thais say, mai riap roy. |

When you say tourist visa, are you talking about a tourist,or one of these who live here full time on tourist visas? If a tourist, forget it, not worth the hassle. Never had a license, please and I repeat again, tell him to stay off the roads, he is nothing but an accident waiting to happen. |

^^^ PS, not mentioned, I assume said friend is visitng here with a proper insurance policy, if so I suggestts he reads the small print.
If not, best he heads to other forums and reads up about such places as Samui or Phuket.
If he is inbound, best he sets up a gofundme page.
Familiarity breeds contempt, sorry I have been here too long to have any symphathy or empathy for these idiots.
