yes but you need to get your residence letter from the embassy not immigration. you get 12 months only. you will need your uk licenses with the international permit book you get ftom the rac (grey book). or you will need to do the full tests etch.
12 months license is an equivalent to a provisional and is not valid in other countries..eg Laos bike and car are separate. two letters needed

Can you do that ? I imagine you would have to be on a Non-Immigrant O to do so.

If you have overseas license just convert it, no need test you will have to do the reaction test, and you will have to do the videos and written test now. till this year you did not have to do the written but they have tightened up.

And don't just turn up at the Embassy...you will likely wait 2-3 weeks for an appointment.

Don't you need an "international license" before you can convert your home license to a Thai license?

Maybe Yes but you dont have to do a physical driving test, which is what i meant, my last 5 year renewal consisted of an eye test and watch a video

Don't you need an "international license" before you can convert your home license to a Thai license? Not if your home DL is in English, certainly at Rayong DMV
