I believe he was complaining being from the UK, but would he seriously kill himself because he wasn't getting enough free money?

Indeed true. A number of members here committed suicide elsewhere in a former life due to Gerbils I believe.

The pension is 25k Baht now not 30k.
Perhaps it will hit 20k after Brexit.
A sobering thought....and many pensioners are not receiving annual rises which is just plain wrong imho.

My son was bitten by a dog and the treatment now is over 40,000 baht. me reckons it would have cost 7,000 baht in a state hospital - I agree, for the initial treatment. Add the cost of follow up rabies injections etc, you'd be looking at near on 20,000 baht. A months money.

That being said you can live well into your eighties if you look after yourself and exercise daily and stay off the pop.
The main problem for expats is boredom I think.
Better to be bored and warm though!

Sorry .....the 7000 is for all treatments.....including 3 lots of rabies, Tetnus and cleaning of the wound and antibiotics. Actually the rabies shots will cost 4000 I inflated it to be sure. I know someone (a european) who got it. Less than 5000 in his case.

Right or wrong, the fact is, they knew they would not get any increases when they decided to dip their wicks in Thailand Is the increase thing wrong, yes of course...but that doesnt change anything

Better to be bored and warm though! If we look at living into ones 80s and planning for this from a financial perspective is a rather sobering exercise, and the realistic numbers are really an eye opener even living Thailand
