I'm a proponent of not-for-profit, user-led, community forums that are governed by a maxim of polite, reasonable, and respectful behaviour. There shouldn't be an array of integrate rules that dictate people's communication.
But there ought be a fundamental principle that we don't threaten each other with legal action. Whatever differences or quarrels we may have, the threat of litigation will inevitably pose a real danger to open discourse. It is counter productive to the very nature of a forum.
In the light of recent developments, I therefore suggest to include the following rule:
"Members will refrain from making legal threats to each other. If there is a legitimate concern that a crime might have been committed or someone may have been wronged, please contact an admin user."

Making slanderous remarks about family is not on, bringing real life scenarios which some poster who has something on another poster or thinks they have something on another poster is not on, stalking same, bitch fights and vitriol from another place not on. Threatening people not on.
If you want to act like a dickhead here then you will not be permitted to be here if it upsets the general flux and good vibes of the forum. Sort things out before you come here and if you have issues don't bother being here. This is a fun place. My take.

I will take this a little further. If you are over sensitive and suffer from a heart condition, pregnant, mentally unstable and are on medication/have a substance dependency, where some comments are likely to cause you palpitations or other health issues then log out and have a break and report.

Possibly but when this is a huge forum the anonymous button pushing mod will press the button banning relying on it. All we need it a rule like. Other posters are people too. and another saying if you do not like it here and everyone else does what does it tell you. and another saying What happened at band camp stays there and has no place being bought into this forum. 3 rules to save one. Doing well aren't I. |

Just to clarify, nothing against Ben here whatever his intentions were, I think threats of defamtion or whatever are frequently misused to silence people. It might mostly be silly but can be a real danger to speaking and open discussion if this is done persistently. |

Treat people as people, they and you have lives outside the forum but a person has a right not to have external issues bought up unless he has given the information himself in the forum, threats are not acceptible whether real or imagined. And if you dont't like this I will have to pound on my keyboard even harder and call you nasty names when it breaks.; |
