Neighbour, grand father with a switch.
Walked out and removed it from him.
No protest.
Then explained.

A cuddle and some common sense would achieve discipline.
Wim is a one year old.

Tales from the soi.
Was sat with a decent guy earlier this evening, he wasnt his usual happy self, wian hua, his head was nipping he told me.
Poor bastid has just been given a list of wants and needs by his hanger on and workshy relatives upcountry.
He told me, he can only save 4,000 baht per month (16,000 total) between now and new year, not enough to meet their demands.
Mai pen rai I told him, mai tong kit mak, no need to think to much, we both laughed, he told me, I think better I not go home this new year.
I paid his bill, he thanked me.
Tomorrow we will laugh again.
Sorry to lead such a disappointing life.

Memories i share.
Paradise, no not that shopping centre.
My parents had a friend, neighbour, who owned a cottage, a very remote cottage in Glenridding. No road to it, just a track.
Glenridding, Ullswater, Lake district.
Many summers spent there.
Paradise?
I did not live there.
Wordsworth country.
Blake , London.
The confrontation in Norwich led me to go to paradise.
Wonderful home near Coniston.
Astounding views and a garden, vast, but not like Appleton House, a random confusion of wildness and cultivation.
But i had to work and live there.
Paradise?
I had left my base.
The one to be reckoned with reduced to a bit player.
I was nothing.
F ck Wordsworth and childhood memories.
An outsider.
It was a disaster.
Ex wife and sons still live there.
I Bangkok, where i am more of an outsider, but not.

Rambling on.
I remember a morning, sitting in the garden, music blasting, i think Talk Talk, and looking at Old Man Coniston. The smallish mountain.
Why not look the other way?
I did, climbed to the summit to look down from where i had looked up.
A memory.

I am truly truly envious, walking up and down Skiddaw, Helvellyn Great Gable and the Pike were where we spent our summer hols for many years, as soon as I left I was already looking forward to the next year. I've visited many beautiful places in the years since and whilst the Canadian Rockies and the Austrian Alps are wonderful, they don't quite compare.
