No music in the village sounds like a blessing. But it means if they've banned music out where we are then it could be a quiet few weeks everywhere. From the 26th for 4 days no alcohol sales at all. Im going to Laos.

Im going to Laos. Its only four days! You lot are all bloody alcoholics....I haven't had a drink since 1956 and its never bothered me. Just get on the Ginseng tea and have a game of crib up here in Roi Et. And loads of other tosh.... Enjoy Laos bud.

4 days without blaring Thai music and alcohol. If you offer the same period also without somchais on motorbikes and squealing women I might pop over for a few days.

I actually literally meant getting carted off, in body bags. We haven't been there for about 10 years so it was worth googling. Seems the drugs, alcohol and drownings have been replaced with drinking herbal tea and watching re-runs of American sitcoms.

Did not go floating down the river but found it a fairly pleasant place to watch their rocket festival. The backpacker food there was a nice change, a good range of fairly simple meals, a breakfast that would put most 150 baht breakfasts to shame for a lot less and a nice breezy balcony in the restauraunt to enjoy the breeze, and watch the passing parade heading for the river.

We found some nice caves and temples out of town that were more my thing. Stayed and ate on the river bank. Yes quite pleasant.
