Can anybody recommend any bars in Bangkok and Pattaya doing Bitter or IPA at decent prices?? Even if it's only for happy hour. The last I have had was the Boddingtons in the Black Swan BKK and Fullers London Pride in the Queens Pattaya. Nothing wrong with either, just looking for some alternatives. Cheers.

Tawandang is probably the best.
I assume you mean a decent pint of ale rather than the overpriced craft beer places at 330++ which are everywhere it seems.
Good ale seems to ru at about 220B a pint or even 160B in happy hours.
I'm going to have to have a think....the place in Chinatown is closed now I believe.
There is one down past Soi Rambuttri called Sheepshank right on the river which has good beers and gets a lovely late afternoon breeze sometimes.

Beer Cap at the Commons Thonglor is decent although a bit food mall kinda thing.
Golden Coins in Ekkamai is reasonable.
Best of all is Let the Girl Kill on Chareonkrung Rd.
The last one I haven't been to but its an offshoot of Let the Boy Die and their own Thai made brews...they are excellent and 180B a pint if I recall.
I won't mention the expensive ones cos they are crazy prices.

The one in Chinatown "The Boy Must Die" or somesuch closed now? Went there once, it was ok but those prices. I was castigated on TV for even commenting on them. The average punter there did not seem the type who had ever sat and had an eight pint session, so not exactly an alehouse ambience. Certainly no Jools type repartee. Pity to see it close though.

Not been in the Crossbar for a while but they used to have proper beer and a decent 4-7 happy hour. A proper pub with drunks like Fletch me n toadie. Might even see Tony slouched in the corner clutching his hip flask.

Possibly we are a bit at cross purposes smokie. The beer there was fine and if it had been 180 a pint I would have been back, but I think it was about that for 330 ml.

Mind, you would have to be there sometime between has fifth Jamesons and his oh freck I've lost count how many I've drunk again. that is usually followed by his slouched in the corner clutching his hip flask stage.

Not sure of the name or where but its a big pub on the corner in pattaya with a big sign saying best beer in town.
Next door is an italian restaurant and apparently it was the old harley shop.
Hope it helps.
