What a POS, how the eff do I turn off updates?
I get some crappy message that tells me, carry on doing what you are doing, we are running in the background, BS you take over my effin Pc and have it running at a snails pace.
Went into settings and tried to turn off this effin invasive crap.
Maybe if effin Bill and Melinda stopped trying to save the world and got back to their core business the world would be a better place.
Over to you our resident dutch uncle, please save me from this invasive crap.

Wait till you want to just turn on the computer to check a route on google maps and an update happens.
Depending how fast your computer is 45 mins later you can get your route.
Roll back to windows 7 if you upgraded, you only have X amount of days.
Also the Intel updates offered by win 10 are not officially by Intel and are a great potential to stuff, stuff up.

Funny you'd say that. I've got an AMD based notebook and every time M$ blessed me with a major update (like the recent 'creative' one) I have to remove and re-install various AMD specifics.

Depending on the specifications of your PC (or is it a notebook?) you might consider Windows7. Somewhat less security problems (allegedly that is) but I don't remember till when those updates will still be supplied. In a way you should be aware of what stuff you want to run on your 'device'. Newer programs and possible updates seem to be made available for Windows7 upwards only nowadays. Sometimes even in 64-bit versions only.

The internal charging jack on my windows10 HP laptop has snapped off. Lucky if I got a week out of it. New laptop, can't use the bloody thing. Can't even remove the battery and charge it otherwise. Now what? Edit. Just checked. The battery can be removed. The other windows10 HP laptop can't. Also brand new. Maybe I just buy another similar laptop and use it to charge the battery. Until the internal charging port snaps off on it also.
Long story short, can the HP battery be charged externally?

Yes, quite a few things on Windows 10 I'm not so keen on. My notebook still runs Windows 7 and I prefer Windows 7 in many ways. Maybe an element of what we're used to compared to new changes. One problem with hanging on to older versions though, is other software, hardware etc starts making changes to fit in with the latest version of windows, so taking a step back often isn't the answer. I have noticed a general trend though of software providers trying to take more control of your PC. Unfortunately it's not just limited to Windows, but a whole host of other software too. Skype is annoying. I don't use it that often, but frequently when I come to use it, it tells me that there is a newer version available, and wait a while before it updates. I don't want to f**in wait. I want to make a call, and will update later. The priority is to make my call, not have the most recent version of their software on my PC. they seem to miss that. Even AVG my antivirus software seems to have more and more pop ups or offers etc. They've missed the irony of I installed it to get rid of this stuff not add to it With Windows 10 I've noticed lots of other programs want to provide me with updates/ pop ups and ask to "allow" stuff so I can get sort of news updates. e.g. yahoo pop ups. Even Thai Visa does this. Not sure if its Windows 10 though or a general trend and the other people trying to take more control and automate stuff on your PC and Windows 10 helps facilitate it. Somewhere along the line though it's losing the idea that my PC is to do what I want, not so that various software people can send me more of their stuff so they can grow their businesses.

BTW. Also hate Microsoft Edge. I very rarely want to use it. But it again seems to want to be used for everything. From opening .pdfs, word docs etc.

I remember years ago I could go into to DOS and do an F disc and reinstall, in less than one hour. I dont need all this crap, my computer usage hasnt changed in 15 years, read/send e-mails, read newspapers, edit music, surf the web, I dont play games or use it for any geek stuff. Seriously thinking in binning the effin lot and ditching windows for mac as an os.

If none, game over. Plus the 'batteries tend to be notebook specific and therefore supplier specific. Seems standarisation needs more push from consumer organisations. www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-charge-a-laptop-battery-externallyLooking on youtube I see lots of clips on laptop batteries but most look like you shouldn't be afraid to end up buying a new battery BTW from which type of HP laptop can't you remove the battery? I thought only some tablets and netbooks were that 'tightly integrated' ?

A lot of the warnings you can switch off as in 'don't tell me' and sometimes as in 'don't do it'. Most browsers allow you to block pop-ups (I think), at least I have that setting in opera. It's not an obvious task, but if you google/yahoo a bit you can find info on this subject. Mind you every major Windows update and many times 'minor' updates can cause a reset of all the changed settings. Write down what you change, makes life slightly easier next time

Was loose and wouldn’t always charge properly. Samsung. Took it to one of the small shops here for something else and they pointed it out. I said I know and it’d been like that for a while. They were able to order another the part and then fit it for me. Was a bit surprised to be honest that you could actually change the charging port, but on reflection why not. Maybe worth taking it in somewhere. Mines quite a few years old, but yours may / should be under warranty.
