Should I shave off my goatee and adopt a handlebar moustache before taking Art 101 next year? You need a manbun and fishermans pants...

Personally, I take them as I find them, there are some decent ones and there are some tossers. By tossers I mean guys who self appoint themselves with the moniker, Khun Kru, Ajarn Bill etc etc, as if we dumb engineering plebs just rocked up on the banana boat on the banks of the mae naaam yesterday, and dont know what is what. Theres a big wide world out there, why restrict yourself to only one country? Sad to say the vast majority of the ones i have come across over the years where full of their own importance complete fking fking tosspots who one would love to punch in the mouth in the case of male species...but females appear to be the worst

A, avoid cheapo charlie beer bars, I remember back in the day, Woodstock used to be teecha/teflr centran. That boozer on soi 8, on a fri night used to put on a free buffett, the telr types were geting p**sed up on the cheap pints during happy hour, come the buffett, they descended on it like a plauge of effin locusts, plates piled so high they were defying the laws of gravity, must have made a welcome change from mama nooden and prego, after happy hour finished, they were gone like a thief in the night. Lets not forget teflr central, on nut bia garden, . B, move to a gated community, rentals way beyond their price range. Have never understood why western educated farangs would move half way across the world to live in a Thai slum with an uneducated illiterate upcountry peasant and her two kids in some scuzzy room thats smaller than my effin toilet. That said, was down in Bang Saen the other month, had a great night out with a decent teflr type, NON PC, he was decent enough to say, sorry lads, cant join in a round with you lot, dont worry about it mate, sit down and relax, your bill has already been taken care of. Not mentioned, even worse are the snobby cows they are married to. One was trying to big herself up to my mrs, oh my husband makes 98,000, my mrs asked, is that per week or per month? Dumb farangs dont know, the Thais can spot these women a mile away.

I mix with a number up here and as has been stated a pretty diverse crew. Some have been here doing it for up to thirty years, some have been here up to thirty years and only been doing it since they became skint. A few have degrees (or claim to have) none that I know have ever done a TEFL course. Two are dyslexic but what do you need to teach conversational English to eight year olds?
All seem to be committed, hardworking and to take the job seriously. The majority are in private schools and a major problem there is discipline, pupils (sorry students) do as they wish. I ask can the school not inform the parents of an unruly and disruptive child - no, will never happen is the response.
The other big problem is the "nobody fails" approach to exams. Takes patience to be a TEFLer, l am too old now but I do not think I could have stuck it when I was younger.
