Well that was an error. Booked a suite class bus ( like a business class flight ) to Mendoza. The bus broke down, the replacement arrived three hours late, and while still having lay down beds, no WiFi or entertainment. The bus must have been thirty years old. The Argentinian highway system is poor. Jolting bumps in the road especially when you cross bridges due to the slab system they use. Be thankful for the roads you have in Thailand. No sympathy until you have to go sledging. Yes I'm still raging.

Just been watching Boca Juniors v River Plate, 0 - 2 final score. Any notion we have of the Old Firm being the biggest derby, forget it.m

From what I hear you have seen nothing yet till you take a bus through the Andes I'm taking that bus at 10.30 am Friday morning. Scheduled for seven hours, I hear border control can be a nightmare. Santiago after Mendoza. I did have my first sight of The Andes today. To those familiar, think the Southern Alps in New Zealand. It's amazing how the flatlands suddenly rise, just as they do on South Island.

Okay, yesterday I went to La Recoleta Cemetry in Buenos Aires, and saw the grave of Eva ( Evita ) Peron.
A combination of Princess Diana and Princess Grace of Monaco, laced with fascist, Hitler loving ideals, this is the woman who gave alms to the poor while dressed in Gucci dresses.
On the bright side, she died of cancer at the age of 33 before she got a chance to gas the Argentinian Jews.

And in a classic troll, two British musical producers made themselves multi-millionaires on the back of her story.
Which really annoys the Argentinian's.
Nearly as much as an American sex-obsessed whore being picked to play Eva in the Hollywood movie.
Which seems like perfect casting to me.

Argentina. I arrived by ferry into Buenos Aries, and had a great laugh with the taxi driver as we practised our language skills. The owner of my Bed & Breakfast was a French rugby fan, he invited me to watch the ( eventual ) victory over England. Excellent. San Telmo area is BA is the night life zone. Plenty of top class Artesan beer bars, restaurants etc. Excellent.
Wow. Not often I turn a corner and say wow, and wow again. This city is better than Barcelona, and would rival Paris. The architecture is often superb, highly European as you would imagine with the Spanish heritage. I loved, truly loved, walking around this glorious city.
Mendoza, in the wine region. Another excellent European style city. AnothervpladecI loved walking around, with it's excellent Parque General San Martin being the highpoint - a giant multi-purpose park on the edge of the city. It lacks the wow factor of BA, but has the natural beauty of The Andes overlooking it.
Argentina gives itself a bad press. This is a country known for political and financial turmoil, never mind it's obsession with The Falkland Islands. All three are self-inflicted wounds. This country should be in the top ten economies in the world. It's a fantastic country with incredible potential.
Visit Argentina? You better believe it. 8.5/10. Excellent.

Even better than Uruguay? BA is better than Montevideo, far better nightlife. In fact, Mendoza has better nightlife too.
