And don't get me wrong, I enjoyed his videos.
But the constant money talk, give it a bloody break.

Funny though he always stated all monies went to Pie' paypal accounts due to he couldn't be seen as working on his retirement visa. Yet she is  is still begging and now saying she can't access the pay pal account as it's in his name. However , ''a friend'' has offered her the use of his account!!!!

He's a common scammer and I suggest that she is cast in the same mould too.. 

Remember John Stonehouse? methinks this is a parallel situation.

I've been following this over on the dark side and posted a few times on it too.

In short, the conclusion I reached on him was that anything he says has to be taken with a pinch of salt and there are quite a few holes in his other VDOs in addition to his medical story.

eg claiming his parents in law house/dwelling was a farm shack with no sanitation, no electricity etc. To get donations to improve it for them. When in reality they have a house with electricity, toilet etc where they go home to shower, eat etc. It's just a farm hut typically used up country by farmers to stay, sometimes overnight while tending their fields. Passing it off as their home / dwelling is low.

eg he made several VDOs which he kept changing the contents of when he was in hospital. This includes saying it would cost 600k - 1 million for an operation, and maybe more, when in reality it would cost much less. He wanted all payments to his paypal account and seemed to have turned down an offer to pay direct

eg likely fudged his retirement visa. Either that or he had 800k he wasn't letting on about which could obviously have been used for his medical bills. Either way fudged or otherwise doesn't reflect well on his character.

eg he bought a 429k new motorbike for his vlogging + 100k worth of accessories. Paid down about 130k and then about 9k+ a month on rentals

His medical condition story seemed to have holes in it, and different versions kept giving slightly different stories. Instead of just posting updates that followed on there seemed to be revisions. Some things just don't fit when checking out. eg he said he went in for the op two days before when in reality people go in same day or day before etc.

So all in all it didn't gel. The exaggeration of costs seemed pretty clear, and it looked like he exaggerated his condition too.

However, he allegedly went in for an operation and passed away.

He also attracted quite a few haters in addition along with quite a few gullible followers

The thought that he had staged his passing away as an exit no doubt crossed people's minds - particularly his detractors - as he seemed to be backing himself into a corner. Out of respect I think no-one has come out with that saying it directly and it's not really appropriate to raise either at this juncture. Playing devil's advocate, given we've a more balanced crowd on here, that won't go jumping in out of context: if he had been scamming and he'd attracted the attention of nutters and / or immigration and he'd raised a few times the cost of the operation for donations then it would be a way to get out ahead. No doubt something characters in the mould he was portrayed by some might have considered that. In the absence of any hard facts though, while it no doubt crossed people's minds, most people seem to be respectfully waiting for more facts.

Up until today there was only Pie's assertion he passed away. Today another foreign guy came on to say too , and that people could use his paypal account to donate to Pie.

He did seem genuine, but the paypal question is an odd one, as in other vlogs Graham said all the money went to Pie, as he wasn't allowed to work, so if she got all the money he could prove it was just a hobby. Again someone doing this as Graham described, would also put the account in her name, otherwise if he gets the money in his and passes on that doesn't fit with what he was trying to achieve.

I was surprised he passed away. Again I'd wait for more details. Who knows why/ what cause if something else went wrong etc.

The story now moves on to what happens to Pie and her young son Fam. That to me is a different issue. Whatever anyone thinks of Graham Briar, they need to pause and think a bit more about his wife and son and their situation. Briar isn't the type of person I'd have donated to knowing all the part truths and uncertainties around his stories. Each to their own. His wife and her son is a different issue though. I would consider making a contribution to them, but with all the goings on and muddy waters, it's probably best to wait a little and see.

That said by rural Thai standards there are a lot worse off than they are, when I look at the real house, and things they have.

Anyway a brief summary from what Fletch has seen and read

Reminds me a little of our own CC who thankfully is still here. That one I think we handled well, with people on here doing what they could to get information, so we could help in any way that might be needed.

It's Pie who I feel sorry for in all of this, she's resilient though, most people from then necks of the wood are.
