Newsflash Nigel F. has been talking about a smear campaign. We're still investigating whether he was referring to the funding of his Brexit Party Ltd. or to the milkshake affair in Newcastle

Regarding the merely 450,000 GBP Nigel F. received as 'gift' from Arron Banks, the latests statement of our honorable candidate for Member of the European Parliament Nigel F. has Farage saying the matter was private and he did not declare the gifts to the European Parliament because he was about to leave politics to start a new life in the United States. I guess he failed in getting a new life in the U.S.A., a bit of a who tried to leave [SIC] the mess of brexit he created. Work well done.

I guess he failed in getting a new life in the U.S.A., a bit of a who tried to leave [SIC] the mess of brexit he created. Work well done. Farage didn't create the Brexit mess. He simply didn't have the power to do that. The mess was created by the Tories who, when they realised how intransigent the Europeans were going to be, failed immediately to effect a clean, hard Brexit. Farage's role was simply in getting the UK to a point where it voted for Brexit. His job was done once the referendum was over. One has to regard him as a self-sacrificing hero who's had to return to UK political life in a noble attempt to sort out the enormous cluster <duck> created by May and her mob. It's a tribute to the man that he's been able to create a party out of nothing for it quickly to rise to the top of the opinion polls. For example, in a YouGov poll for Wales 36% of those polled said they planed to vote for his party, as opposed to 7% for the Tories and 15% for Labour. Let's hope, for his sake (and that of all Britons), that the Tory-created fiasco is soon over and that he can return to his new life in the USA.

Shall I rephrase and just say that anyone who tells "my work is done" and leaves resembles a well known Frenchy who said "Après moi le déluge". Of course, having such tremendous, real tremendous support either tells me something about his Trump like capabilities and or something about his followers. You chose.

Shall I rephrase and just say that anyone who tells "my work is done" and leaves resembles a well known Frenchy who said "Après moi le déluge". You can rephrase as much as you like, but it doesn't get around the fact that he was not a Member of Parliament, not a member of the ruling party or ruling elite, and not a member of the group appointed to bring about the Brexit will of the British people. There was nothing more he could do. He was absolutely powerless over the actual implementation of Brexit. Indeed, if he'd continued to be involved in the process he would simply have been a distraction. He did the right thing in walking away and leaving it to the (ultimately clueless) politicians and Whitehall mandarins. When Louis CK (or was it Charlie CXV?) said "Après moi, le déluge" he was, perhaps, simply pointing out that lesser individuals, lacking his strength and wisdom, would result in things falling apart. And he was probably right. Had Farage been in charge of the Brexit process, I have little doubt that the UK would have been freed from the shackles of the EU quite some time ago. Sadly, that was not to be. They say "cometh the hour, cometh the man". Sadly that was not the case. Rather than getting Farage, the man, the UK got May, the spineless jellyfish.

Not only was Nigel F. powerless but he didn't have any plan for after brexit. His work was done remember? Even now his Brexit Party Ltd. will come with policies AFTER the European elections. Promised by mister 'trust me' Farage himself. Farage the man? The man who didn't even want to have anything to do with the implementation of brexit, the man who left, or tried to leave and came back to make more people leave. BUT STILL NO PLAN / POLICY for AFTER brexit! BTW will Mr. fix-it Donald Trump himself still come for the official State Visit? I'm sure he'll offer some really useful advise. PS "freed from the shackles of the EU" ? Surely the truth here is that you could have left by 2019-03-29 23:59 BST but the shackles of your own British government kept you.

Sometimes I think you don't even bother reading what others write, such is your utterly blinkered view on this matter. Why write: "PS "freed from the shackles of the EU" ? Surely the truth here is that you could have left by 2019-03-29 23:59 BST but the shackles of your own British government kept you."? I have already made it completely clear that it was the failure of the Tories to deliver a simple, clear Brexit in accordance with the will of the people. Nothing to do with Farage. "Not only was Nigel F. powerless but he didn't have any plan for after brexit. His work was done remember?" Of course he had a plan*. However, it was the responsibility of the government to deliver Brexit - not Farage. And there was no way they would follow his plan, because that would make the Tories look weak and clueless. (Unfortunately for them, as it turns out that's exactly how they look anyway.) "Even now his Brexit Party Ltd. will come with policies AFTER the European elections." And yet his party has rapidly become enormously popular. That really shows how keen many people in the UK are keen to be shot of the EU once and for all. That said, however many votes his party gets it's still going to be powerless to deliver what the British people want, so what's the point in elaborating policies that can't be implemented? * To quote from an interview where he made his position clear: "Asked why he did not advocate a no-deal Brexit at the time of the EU referendum in 2016, Mr Farage said: "Because it was obvious that we could do a free trade deal.
"The problem is the prime minister never asked for it, so we finished up in the mess that we're in," he said.
"She chose to go for this close and special partnership. Basically right from the start she was happy for us to be kept very close to the customs union.
"So where we are now, the only way the democratic will of the people can be delivered is to leave on a WTO (World Trade Organization) deal."www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-48244917

You mean when you write about 'EU shackles' I'm not allowed to correct you or Nigel F.? 'shot of the E.U.? Why not leave tomorrow then? Britain can do it, you only have to believe in yourself. If you keep on blaming the E.U. you just show you don't believe in yourself. As for the interview, the usual Nigel F. talking. 'Because it was obvious that we could do a free trade deal'? Now really, how obvious. Following Nigel blames others for not following the 'obvious'. Well, the real obvious seems to have been the 'have cake and eat it' and it didn't take long for that to prove impossible already. The democratic will of the people (aka 52% of those who voted) seems 'we want to leave the E.U.'. No one at the time had any realistic idea of how and what. Certainly not Nigel who 'had done enough'. WTO deal? That means no deal and fall back to standard WTO rules. Repeat NO DEAL. Even now Nigel doesn't seem to have a program for Britain, just a program for himself (GBP 85,000 as MEP).

Methinks to succinctly encapsulate the comments made by one here who has no connection or loyalties to the countries and their politics, leadership etc that that person delights to pass profound comments on via cut and paste comments etc from sources that can hardly be defined as neutral the expression, ''kwezelachtig'' springs to mind.

So, Nigel F. is THE man Britain wants to vote for, into the European Parliament.
sarcasm on
Nothing better to do I guess. It's not as if brexit is so important. Britain seems to like 'being shackled' to the E.U. This reminds me of the days long gone when we shackled folks and transported them to other places. Romans and the Britannic people like to own a Germanic person.
Tongue-in-cheeky
So what will Nigel F. do in Brussels? Wine and Dine as usual? Obstruct E.U. proceeding? Prevent the E.U. from throwing Britain out before she has made up her mind? Interesting that some seem to look forward to a 'free' Britain doing all kind of wonderful trade agreements, to the benefit of the other countries of course, selfless as Britain is. Trump has an agreement ready, he only needs to sign rumour has it and with Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage welcoming him in June for his State Visit who knows. Trump might be in the mood if the normal formal protocol leaves him enough 'executive time'. I wonder if Trump would say 'Britain First' would someone understand that that implies the formal recognision of "America First' by a Western former power?
PS "here who has no connection or loyalties to the countries and their politics, leadership etc that that person delights to pass profound comments on via cut and paste comments" Utter Bollocks unless what is meant that we should all refrain from commenting on other countries. Britain for the British, Netherlands for the Netherlands, America for the crazies. It would seem that accusations on person are so much easier than to look in the mirror and answer the question "what good does Nigel F. do for Britain that doesn't help Nigel F. himself?"

So what good do you do for the Netherlands and the EU, what effect have you made in the international political spectrum?

Only 06:39 in most of the E.U. but first voting locations have been opened.
In the Netherlands the start was given at the Castricum railway station at 00:00 Thursday morning. Next followed a few at 05:!5, 05:30.
Note some countries vote today, some do it on Sunday. That's why the official 'counting' will only start when the last voting stations have closed on Sunday.
NOTE: times given in EST, European Summer Time which goes in most of continental Europe.

^^^ Isn't that wonderful. The EU members can't even agree on a single date for an election. What a shambles that organisation is. And the long delay before counting starts gives plenty of time for the unscrupulous to manipulate the tally.
