And Singapore in particular was relaxing things, so that late nights are the norm there now while Bangkok is very buttoned up.
Ref these unmentionable beers, are you referring to Cheers Red or am I getting confused. I used to have one or two from 7 when eating at the gaff next door, seemed OK but a bit strong if having more than a few.
I am curious about which aged single malt is recommended with a pie straight from the fat? People regularly seek my advice on matters related to fine dining so I try to have a broad databank always on hand.

Malaysia was a , so Islam is the religion de facto, that's fine, their country and all that. But beer is expensive when compared to gut rot and far more intoxicating whiskey. I would have thought lighter booze would have been less sinful,no? The open-air Chinese places around the Ibis in central were a godsend, Allah be praised for their rule-bending ways!

I'm not really into pies but assuming you don't want to cover the taste of them (too) much I'd recommend a Glenmorangie 10yo. It's a nice Malt but compared to some others a bit bland after awhile. Still might go well with the pies though. Give it a try and let us know your thoughts

Worth a try.
The last malt I had was Bushmills which is a whiskey not a whisky and I was a bit disappointed in it. Bought it the lasr time I.worked in.London thinking a dram before bed would help me sleep, but never really got into it. Gave it away at the end I Think. I had previously frequently enjoyed the Black Bush so expected more of the malt. Such is life, suck it up and move on.

I keep hearing about bkks legendary night life, as one who lives here, can someone pls point me in the right direction, where is it, what am i missing out on? A city of what, 10 million people, i am no culture vulture, where is the opera, ballet etc etc, where are the morlam, or luk tung concerts? Check out london or new york , those places are jumping with action. For singen malt, i suggest hong tong or sang som, . No decent, blues pubs, no punk rock joints, music scene doesnt exist, unless we talk about coffin dodgers on their top up their retirement pensions tour, see scorpions, clapton etc for details. You are correct about singapore.

It's these alcohol free nights.
Had a few pints of Abbot (IPA/Bitter? don't know) last night, beautiful stuff after the Draught Tiger which normally isn't too bad. Think I'll nip down to 7 for a 3 in 1 Ovaltine or similar, ah this is the life.

160 a pint is enough of a cure. Having said that the Tiger was 130 so a bit bearable in comparison. Not the cheapest of Pattaya bars.

Very prescient of you rgs, 6 hours before webfact announced his forthcoming visit on TVF. The devout on there are already prostrating themselves. Welcome Papa, go easy on the somtam.

I think I last saw the dog sleeping soundly on it, maybe need a new one

A lady in a bar in Pattaya (serving beer, coffee and the like) was telling me that 4.00 a.m. closing was already a fact.
Nothing like closing the stable door after, etc.
Too many places are closing before midnight due to lack of custom. While Indians, Russians and others are mooching around determined not to spend two bob.
