This bodes well for us: "Almost a quarter of registered Covid deaths are people who are not dying from the disease, new official figures show, as the Government was urged to move faster with the roadmap in the light of increasingly positive data. The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that 23 per cent of coronavirus deaths registered are now people who have died "with" the virus rather than "from" an infection. This means that, while the person who died will have tested positive for Covid, that was not the primary cause of their death recorded on the death certificate". and so does this: "It is very, very important for everybody to understand that the reduction in these numbers – in hospitalisations and in deaths and in infections – has not been achieved by the vaccination programme," he said. "People don't, I think, appreciate that it's the lockdown that has been overwhelmingly important in delivering this improvement in the pandemic and in the figures that we’re seeing. So yes of course the vaccination programme has helped, but the bulk of the work in reducing the disease has been done by the lockdown." www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/04/13/quarter-covid-deaths-not-caused-virus/Given that Thai's are happy to stay home at times such as this, effectively they volutarily isolate, AND, they all wear masks, Thailand could get off quite lightly with the current outbreak, by comparison to the UK. Perhaps that's why the death toll remains so low.

More good news, damn, I'm on a roll: "The lower protection rates of China’s Covid-19 vaccines have raised concerns about shots that are key to inoculation rollouts from Brazil to Indonesia, especially after their efficacy was questioned by one of the most senior Chinese health officials". "Russell: The Sinovac study was to look at how the vaccine works against the entire range of clinical symptoms, from mild infections to severe ones, including death. The efficacy data of about 50% is for very mild disease, requiring no treatment. For infections requiring some medical intervention, it’s about 84% and for moderate-to-severe Covid cases, it’s 100%". "The good news is the vaccines work extremely well in combating severe Covid infections, according to Fiona Russell from the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne and Paul Griffin, a professor from the University of Queensland in Brisbane". That’s what you expect from Covid vaccines -- higher efficacy against more severe infections and lower against milder ones. From what I can see, it looks like a very worthwhile vaccine. The problem with the data is it didn’t include many old people or many people with co-morbidities". www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-04-13/are-china-s-covid-shots-less-effective-experts-size-up-sinovac?srnd=premium-asiaIf I come across more good news today I shall keep it to myself, we don't want you bunch getting too used to it.

^^| From that description I get the impression the 'vaccine' works more like a medicine / cure. That's is AFTER you got infected rather than BEFORE. ... but then, what would I know.

Still wondering why the AstraZeneca is no longer recommended for under-60sh but still used for over 60sh.
Seems its a bit of juggling chances. There are 'enough' deaths due to COVID-19 to be able to split the chance of dying when you get it into separate age groups. For the 'blood cloth' side effect of AstraZeneca the number of deaths is still too low to say much apart from possibly 1 in 400,000 may die (and possibly in most cases women less than 60 y.o.). So combine this with the older are more vulnerable and likely to die if/when they get COVID-19 and we make the weighted decision to use AstraZenera for those 60 or older.
Some figures on COVID-19 deaths for million infected spread over age groups: . 50 - 59 y.o. - 23 per million . 60 - 69 y.o. - 88 p.m. . 70 - 79 y.o. - 361 p.m. . 80++ - 1657 p.m.

Women who take the contraceptive pill have more chance of developing blood clots. The women who don't take the pill just have more chance of producing clots.

For those who still have a few years supply of bleach there's good new. You can sell it to people in Florida, USA. Mind you, the name of the former guy is not mentioned. "US company illegally peddling ‘miracle cure’ bleach for new Covid variants Oclo in Florida exploiting fears around new virus strains by selling chlorine dioxide, despite FDA warnings against fraudulent ‘cures’ Peddlers of industrial bleach who urge Americans to drink the fluid as a “miracle cure” for cancer, HIV/Aids and other diseases have begun touting the product illegally as a treatment for the latest variants of Covid-19. Chlorine dioxide, a powerful bleaching agent used in textile and paper manufacturing, is being compounded and sold out of a makeshift laboratory in Miami, Florida. The company, Oclo Nanotechnology Science, is playing on fears of the new strain of the coronavirus discovered in the UK, which is now spreading rapidly and widely through the US. The UK variant, B117, is thought to be more transmissible and deadly than the initial form of the virus. The Miami company is invoking B117 to drive up sales of its bleach products, which the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns are potentially dangerous and can be life-threatening. The front page of Oclo’s website is dominated by a photograph of vials of its chlorine dioxide product billed as an “antiviral” treatment. The image is superimposed with the words: “B117 … new variant of coronavirus, the most contagious and dangerous in the United States. Rescuing chlorine dioxide and its great curative potential against pathogens.”" www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/apr/15/us-company-florida-oclo-bleach-covid-variants

Astra Zeneca to be the drug of choice for Thailand. I used to work for them for about 6 months, before they lived us off to combine with a Swiss company's Agro business to form Syngenta. You'll be relieved to know I'd no input with the drugs side of things, although our site was raided when it was discovered that the site's labs were making ecstasy and selling it in Huddersfield discos.

It might be not as bad as suggested in this cartoon but it may depend on how fast we manage to get the larger part of the World's population vaccinated. Even then we may end up to require yearly or bi-yearly booster shots. With 4 out of 188 the latest PCR-test did not have a definite negative result (geen definitief negatief resultaat). The four have been put in quarantine (separately). Their 'room mates' have to stay in their rooms. Later today new PCR-tests will be done. When they get back to the Netherlands they may dread the questions like "How was the beach, weather, sun, did you tour around, etc."
