Gents I give you and salute, the humble roll.  None of yer poncy foreign baguette rubbish, this is the stuff that built an empire. Versatile, a sausage roll on a roll, chip butties, Walkers Salt n Vinegar on a roll, Monster Munch on a roll, is there no end to this Eighth Wonder of The Worlds uses? Honourable mention in dispatches must go to the never mentioned on here, Colmans Mustard, in fact many may cast their minds back to their student days, a roll with Colmans, a roll up and a cuppa, what a way to start the day. |

What's wrong with a cuppa coffee, a glass of milk and a few slices of bread buttered, with cheese on top?
The Thai rice soup with some boiled minced pork, an egg and some chili isn't bad either, but tends to leave you hungry again after only a few hours.

Eisenhower had obviously never eaten pork pies, scotch eggs, black pudding, beef Wellington, chicken tikka, bubble and squeak, Haggis, steak & kidney pudding, a ploughman's lunch or the humble sandwich.
Poor old Dwight had to make do with grits, hamburgers and cheese in a spray can.
Anyway Geronimo, nice to see you over on this board.
Been too busy at work this week to post (foriegn visiting customers), so I never had the chance to greet you earlier.

While that may be true it is also true that great British fare gets an unfair kicking from other nations who are renowned for their culinary skills but the USA should not be included in the mix of countries with fine dining. Also, it should be noted that these countries who have made British food the butt of their jokes are now clamoring to get traditional British meals onto their menus. |
