Depends on your budget, Dec/Jan is peak season so prices are jacked up, let me think. I won't be around or I'd invite you and gf for a sip of something. Macao is your primary destination with a HK sideline so how many nights? For a couple of nights you could splash out on the Four Seasons, pricey but very nice a room with a harbour view.

Surprize her. Nothing like splashing out on a romantic treat, not to impress but for a treat and a great memory, priceless. I've got fond memories of the place as I met Mr Trix in the Blue Bar there many moons ago and we indulge in weekends there on special occasions. www.fourseasons.com/hongkong/offers/I thought you were a bit of a romantic smokie, don't tell me you were thinking of a room in Chung King Mansions.

I think the location is the important point here. Try and get somewhere central or close enough . The Island Pacific is not to far but one of the Wanchai hotels like Novotel would have you in the thick of it . You don't want to be out at Tsuen Wan or Tung Chung imho. www.google.co.uk/maps/search/novotel+hk/@22.2930627,114.0594196,27131m/data=!3m1!4b1

So Macau it is then . www.fernando-restaurant.com/index_en.htmlThis restaurant is very well known and worth a visit. It can get busy in the evening . It is down by Hac Sa Wan ( Black Sand Beach). Nice very cold Super Bock beer and Jars of Sangria. Portuguese food and a bit of Macanese flavour.

Thanks for this one....and of course I can whistle the tune all evening until my gf gets the reference. She is hopeless when it comes to music so it will likely provide me with hours of entertainment....all for free! In the absence of any common sense I have booked us into the Venetian for four nights....which seems totally over the top kinda place so perfect for Macau I guess. Hints and tips all welcome....anything that doesn't involve clifftops or vertiginious viewpoints welcome.

I'm sure she wouldn't object to Portuguese custard ones, they are a delicacy in Macao. ;

The venetian have released an advert with D Beckham in it. They chose him because he oozes class and sophistication. He is basicaly reopening a shopping mall. In it he catches the black death at a an after party , one of the symtoms being he can't string a sentence together,so to rid himself of the disease he kicks a football at a big sparkly chandelier but misses it. Then to highlight the fact that he still has the disease he turns his head to the right and stares off into the darkness. Neversettle , yes one word. There is a pub nearby.
