The one thing I have never been able to understand is folk who stay in Thailand yet hate it. Everything about the place seems to hate them and they always seem to think that the natives are against 'us'. It's really rather sad. I think what is important at the end of the day is to hang with people that inspire you rather than drag you down. What are other peoples negpat experiences?

I don't have any nowadays...the expats I hang out with are all solvent, fun loving people,
The worst they may complain about is the traffic....or in December the cold....that's about it!

They would be miserable wherever they are. Agreed though, why stay somewhere that you hate??

The truth is that some people enjoy their wallowing in self pity and misery no matter where they are.Many come to Thailand to escape , many succeed in that,some though find their dreams turn to nightmare,having burnt their bridges elsewhere they have trapped themselves.
Just got to be positive and try.
Life is what you make it positive output brings positive returns.

I was pretty lucky coming here looking back. A couple of good friends in Singapore where I was living before here, introduced me to the scenes here, and some decent people here when I first moved. So maybe it's first impressions. Have come across a fair few negative people since then. Everyone has their ups and downs, but not much point hanging around people who are always negative, so leave them to it. Negative people just attract negative things, but often don't seem to realise it. Life's too short and there's plenty of decent expats to spend time with. Cheers Fletch  |

I think this whole thing about 'negpats' (nice term) is very much overplayed especially on internet forums.
Given the alternatives; I have found that even lowly TEFL clowns have been on the whole happy here.
