Could be a water infection that has infected your kidneys Blether. Ask Sheryl she'll know what to do Sheryls just a nurse. She isn't qualified to give out much more advice then how to apply a band aid. She may only be a nurse as you so eloquently put it. I dare say for many, she is the only source of medical advice many can afford. My mother is just a nurse. She saw right through the quacks over here. Two hospitals and thousands of baht couldnt diagnose my problem. My mother sussed it out right away, went to a clinic and was sorted for 400 baht. It wasnt the money that bothered me, it was the waste of time, travel and listening to the utter BS spoken.

She is a gem, In hospital I would probably hate her as she is not the kind to take no for answer but her advice is patient and complete.

Fair enough if you feel that way but assuming she is definitely a nurse, I mean there was also detectives over there, shouldn't be handing out advice she isn't qualified to hand out especially over the internet . She's crossed the line- True or not? I'm surprised they actually let her get away with it. Wait for the day someone says "I listened to your advice Sheryl and I could have died the doc said " My mum was also a nurse her whole life so it's not like I have a thing against nurses, great people, just ones that think they can diagnose online where even doctors can't. It's dangerous and no different to using Dr Google to self diagnose. Best advice any nurse can give you is if something bothers you, get to a Doctor. Then if you can't afford to even seek medical advice in Thailand, you best be heading home before you need a hospital bed.

I remember on 1 thread Sheryl was taking charge of, it was about some poor lady who's husband had throat cancer. This thread stuck in my mind it was just a really tragic story that ended in death which Sheryl helped walk this lady through which is a lovely thing to do, but Sheryl also was suggesting which medications this ladies husband should have been on.
So now this poor women who's at her weakest point in life probably, is now getting told to change his medications by a nurse on a forum! It's just not on.

Hippity, when I said go and see sheryl I was taking the p**s, not out of blether, I was having a laugh
I have seen her give too much bad advice, as in misinformation on how to treat something.
She may have helped some people and for that I give her praise but shes not a doctor and the internet is not the place for a diagnosis.

With all due respect perhaps a reminder of what happened to poor old CC might be a timely warning to seek immediate diagnosis and no doubt a resultant treatment regime too. When vital organs start to malfunction speed of diagnosis and treatment is of paramount importance.
Blether you are overweight and no doubt the old B.P. is high that can be far more dangerous than many realise and it will affect the areas you describe as having problems.
As suggested a return post haste to the U.K. or trip to a local hospital here or in H.K.to see what they have to say.
If as such it is a local contracted infection you have picked up you may well be better advised by a local hospital with experience in Asian infections i.e. their causes and treatment.
Whatever action you take it must be done quickly.
All the best for a swift and long lasting recovery.

Are you aware that during the training a Nurse recieves several times the training on Medications and their effects than Doctors do. A senior nurse like Sherryll was has more than enough knowledge of medicines and their side effects and contraindications, and what ones should not be used in what or what dosage, to advise that a medication being taken is unsafe.

Well that's fine but you're completely and utterly missing the point so I'll hit replay just for you. Taking any form of serious medical advice from someone claiming to be a nurse, then off the internet, would be a seriously crazy thing to do. You'd have to have loose screws in fact.

Then if you can't afford to even seek medical advice in Thailand, you best be heading home before you need a hospital bed. My post was more of an insight into the Thai medical system and practices. I have no problems listening to her, or using her for a second opinion. Eg, I went to the hospital complaining of X, I was diagnosed with Y and prescribed Z. Ask anyone about costs at private hospitals, the same medication can be bought at most pharmacies for way less than hospitals charge. The same operation can cost up to 3 times the price depending on where its carried out. My best medical friend in Thailand is the local pharmacist, have been using her for 10 years, she knows me and my medical history. Went to see her a couple of months ago, had bronchitis, she gave me some anti bios and told me if not cleared up, go see a doctor in 4 days. Cost to me, a couple of hundred baht. Go to private hospital, see doctor, at least 600 baht, can be up to 1,000 baht, be prescribed same anti bios at 3 or 4 times the price, no thanks. She is what she is, nothing wrong with having a second opinion. I mentioned before about the doctor at Pra Ram 9, one of the best doctors I have never used. I consulted one hospital, operation needed, wouldnt cost me a single baht, insurance would cover it. Sought second opinion at Pra Ram 9, doctor told me to go home and wash windows for 3 months then come back and see him. No operation required. Plus I suffer from a farang disease, I will ask questions, I wont be intimidated or have respect for someone just because they are a teacher doctor etc etc. Its something that has taken my mrs years to shake off, she to will now question. Concur with you the insurance remark. The sad reality is, for some there is no warning, wiped out in a motorcycle accident, numpties coming here with no insurance etc etc. One of the Somchais up my way had a stroke the other week, they took him to the first available hospital, I sure as heck wouldnt like to be thrown in the back of a pick up truck and driven the length of Suk Rd, bypassing various hospitals just to get to the one on soi 3. Check out some of the waiting rooms, provide proof of either cash or insurance before you are attended to. Its an eye opener.

I went to Rayong Bangkok yesterday to have an eye problem taken care of. I went to the information desk first and told them I wanted to go the eye center. They told me to have a seat which I did and in 10 minutes they presented me with an appointment card for the eye center where I went next. The nurse checked my eyes and blood pressure and filled in my chart and told me the doctor would see me in 20 minutes. 20 minutes - I was called and a doctor who spoke English put my chin in an eye looking exam thing and closely looked at my eye and told me no infection just a broken blood vessel (bp meds) and gave me a prescription. The nurse walked me to the cashier and gave the bill to the pharmacy/cashier who called my name in English and advised me to put the drops in my eyes 4 times a day for a week and call them if the redness was not gone in a week. Bill was 800 baht presented to me after all services performed. When I went there for a heart attack they asked my wife if she would guarantee payment before they started clot busting drugs (200,000 bht). They wanted some money after I had been in ICU for 3 days. I've lived here for 10 years never had a problem with hospitals.

Asked for a guarantee first, before giving medication, by the time the guarantee had been approved you could have been dead. I walked out a hospital after seeing a doctor, prescription given etc etc, some Hello Kitty type at the cashiers desk was playing eff the farang around (not doubt hadnt been laid last night), I told her to stick it up her ass. Next day the Insurance lady went CRAZY, came to the house picked me up and went to same hospital. The usual BS crap, kor tawt ka, new lady she dont know, NOT a effin word of apology.
