In a blow to the deluded that think there is no unemployment in Thailand - ..................................................................................................................... BANGKOK – The Social Security Office (SSO) currently pays unemployment benefits to over 100,000 individuals on a monthly basis, covering unemployment or those who have had their employments terminated, says SSO Secretary-General. The SSO’s Secretary-General Kowit Sachavisad has said that the SSO pays a sum of 350-450 million baht to more than 100,000 individuals holding the social security benefits, either from resignation or termination of employment. He has said that the amount of Social Security bearers requesting to receive unemployment allowance has increased slightly from last year, to 39,000 more persons during January-February 2016. Unemployment rates have remained relatively low, as reflected from a total of 11,510,000 individuals enrolled in the unemployment subsidy. Social Security bearers will receive the allowance at 30 percent of their wage for 90 days, in case of resignation, while unemployed persons from contract termination will receive an allowance at 50 percent of their wage for 180 days. - See more at: www.pattayamail.com/thailandnews/more-than-100-000-thais-receive-unemployment-benefits-each-month-56762#sthash.ZafqdTch.dpuf

Unemployment benefit is one thing - under employment another.
I wouldn't like to guess the amount of Thais of working age who are economically inactive.

It doesnt.
But for the life of me, if even I as a farang kwai can wander about shopping malls, read soi side signs, read the notices in soi shops asking for staff why cant the unemployed.
There are plenty of jobs out there, same as the UK etc etc, ploblem is there is now a generation of self entiltlements being raised, easier to stay at home and swing on the hammock and blame everyone else for your ploblem. Heck we even have farang kwai who contribute to the same ploblem.
Gotta love the Muslims, Chinese, Indians and Southern Thais, none of this crap where they live.
Go visit a Muslim village, work or get out, simple, no freeloaders.
As per your unemployment figures, how many of the unemployed have ever contributed to the Thai SS system?
Makes me larf when I read elsewhere about no unemployment payments in Thailand, there is, if you have contributed. Same mugs trying to tell me there is no payments for pensioners, wrong again.

I think i am entitled to something like a thb 2000/m pension in Thailand once i reach retirement age from the Thai SS

Every reply is money. Consider that. A once world has changed to a money world. Do not simplify that into a better world has been lost. No, not my point. There was no better world, just a different one. A basic world. An advanced society poses many fundamental questions, ones that are not answered by silly references to mother in laws. A basic society, did deal with basic problems in basic ways. A complex society cannot. Not in basic ways.
Bowie writing, the nuke the lot to solve it all brigade. Might is right and I got where I am cos I cared bugger all. Oh, so simple. Love it.
