So I need a new one after these seven years with this old toy.
It is a Vaio....which has been resilient.....but has needed some work from time to time.
What to buy next is the question....not really concerned about cost so much....but not stupid money.
This one was £800 when i bought it....so would go that high again.
Come on you techie geniuses....give a heavy internet user some advice....I like good graphics and sound....hardly do any biz stuff really.

Or at the other end of the scale I paid 400dollars for a Toshiba laptop. Hasn't missed a beat in a year, but the speakers are toys.
It comes down to what do you want it for? YouTube, forums etc. ...it's fine buying the cheapest imo. Cheapest doesn't mean junk these days.
I've coded forums on the cheapest put it that way.

What about a tablet with a remote keyboard ?
I'm very technical BTW 555555555 I spend more time looking for iPhone cases and covers than caring what the gizmo actually does.

I have always loved to make jokes about Apple fanboys. I converted from Linux user to Apple MacBook Air user recently.. I still make the jokes :)
The reason was, laptop is my office and it needs to be both functional and durable. Great battery-life is a plus. When I was looking for a new laptops, there was nothing really good hardware available. I have previously used IBM thinkpads, but currently their build quality has gone to ravine. The only exception would had been Thinkpad X1-carbon, which costs 100.000B in Thailand.
So I ended buying MBA for 40.000B and have been a happy user ever since. For me that was best value of the money. My backup plan was to install Linux to it (Linux Torwards uses that combination so it's likely to be well supported), in case I find the OSX not enough user friendly. But as I can still use the shell to do automation scripts etc. I did not have a reason to install Linux.
My next laptop will also come from Apple, unless they really manage to screw their hardware quality.

Hit the [On] button and the thing is booted up in around 10 seconds ready to rock.
Open any application and it just sort of . . . arrives . . . right away.
