They were political wars, faith was not of the essence. As stated, idealism underpins religion and can be a very useful tool in the hands of politicians, kings, egoists. Most people of all times are inculcated, and before literacy had no means of understanding their beliefs. The powers that be will always utilize this naivety. God and country. Yes perhaps however some of the men fighting were doing it out of religious fervour? I accept the leaders reasons to be political. Don't forget the 'glory' of it all and the loot of course. Byzantium was never the same again after the crusaders 'visited'

Have you ever seen the aftermath of a religiously devoted to their messiah Millwall fans visit on a away match?
If not you haven't lived Armageddon was child's play compared to a Millwall fans campaign.

Any relation with kindergarten games?

My gf would murder me if I did. If your gf worked in certain occupations she would have been requested to wear yellow. I will say no more, deep waters. Mondays are much less 'yellow' these days, in Bangkok that is, but last Thursday about 50% to 60% I think. I came to these numbers via scientific methods. Look around, wet your thumb and hold it up to feel any wind and voila. The results are as stated. Many 'company provided' shirts I saw and of course the "bike for dad' one. I probably wasn't really awake when going to work. I was wearing a normal, black company provided shirt. Guess my 'bike for dad' shirt has to wait till Monday again

The hooligan element of Millwall fans are known as 'The Bushwackers' and are one of the most respected (by some) and feared hooligan crews in English football. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millwall_Bushwackers

The police wisely allowed them to smoke whatever they wanted both inside and outside the station.

Religion is a pile of turd.
How many countries are held back developmentally by the influence of religious organisations? Certainly IMO the Catholic Church has done no favours in the Phillipines for starters. And dont get me started on the mumbo jumbo that is classed as religion here, maybe a loosely , flexable version of bhuddism.

How many countries are held back developmentally by the influence of religious organisations? A certain religion is associated with extreme developmental backwardness and is keen to go back to the ways of 7th century goat and children shaggers. Another religion is associated with promoting amazing technical and artistic development - particularly during the Renaissance. So, not all religions can be tarred with the same brush. One might say that all religions are equal, but some are more equal than others. Of course, these days there's no rational reason to believe in a god, and doing so irrationally can only be a societal hindrance. The sooner it's more broadly accepted that imposing one's belief in an all-powerful, magical sky wizard who's so ridiculously insecure that he needs to be worshipped upon children is a form of child abuse, the better it will be for the world and the sooner these ridiculous notions will be relegated to a curious quirk in the history books.

Just ask the little boys at the orphanages religeon you consider promoted artistic developement how well they view it. Suffer the Children to come unto me had a totally diffent meaning to them. Just ask Cardinal Pell.

Just ask Cardinal Pell. There are sick followers of every religion. However, only Islam was founded by one of those sickos - a bloody warmonger, a paedophile, a rapist. In my opinion, each religion should be judged by the moral standards and behaviour of its founder - not by those of its adherents. And despite the vile behaviour of a number of Catholic priests, the artistic and scientific achievements of Christianity still stand. I'm glad to live in a world where Christian belief has led to so many advancements. I have no doubt, an Islamic, pagan or atheistic world would not have achieved these.

Have you ever been in the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, the Dhammakaya Temple in Bangkok, the Golden Temple in Amaritsa. All outstanding buildings though I have doubts about all of their practices
