The journeys continue, this time for work, not pleasure. I've been assigned to teach a short program to some civil servants in the small Myanmar city of Hinthada. Since I'm not allowed to drive my motorbike in Yangon, where they're banned, I was very excited about having the chance to take it from across the river up the 120 miles or so north to Hinthada. Hot air?

^ Could be worse, where he ties me to a chair, makes me look through every one of his many family photo albums, slide-shows and holiday videos while listening to all his Barry Manilow records.

Nothing in particular. I just enjoy traveling and making travel videos as a hobby. Naturally, as anyone who has a creative hobby would, I want people to watch them.

I will admit, they're getting kinda repetitive. They're all the same basic format. I am actively thinking about how to make them different, however.

Settling in here in Hinthada. It's actually quite a nice little town. My colleague and I are treated like celebrities wherever we go as so few foreigners ever come here. In this video, you can get a feel for the town itself as we make our way out to the job site, which is some 8 km or so out of town.

Some notes:

• Hinthada has the most insects of any place I've ever been. Giant katydids. Minute ants that like to crawl on my laptop screen. Moths of every size. Spiders that look like small scorpions and can jump a meter in the air.
• As you'll see, I'm teaching a class of 14 women. Of the 35 in the initial group, NONE of the men tested high enough to be in the upper group, the one I'm teaching.
• The campus I'm at is interesting. It's actually Myanmar's National Disaster Management Training Center. We're teaching English upstairs (thanks to funding from the UNDP) while other gov't employees are learning about handling floods, earthquakes, etc. downstairs.
