Blether what is a Royal Sergeant Major? I've never heard that term before. It's the kind of rank that Walter Mitty's give themselves - They tell stories like this to their gullible Gollum lookalike boys

On a lighter, heavier note; Bangkok traffic. My son's school have asked if I can afford to let him board. It is a prestigious school and demands very high standards. They know my son tries hard at school, is very able. The problem is homework. They set a lot of it. I can not help, can not read Thai. Wife can not read anything. The assumption ( assumption is not the school) is that the parents will help with the homework. Quite right too. Since I banned myself from driving, the school have noticed a problem. Good observation. To get to school on time, Bangkok traffic, he leaves here before seven. Motorcycle , hired by me and crash helmet. When I drove him to school, six thirty was the latest we could leave and then a ten minute journey could take up to an hour. The morning problem solved, motor cycle. Yes bloody dangerous. The coming home is the problem. He finishes at five, has after school lessons. Then plays with his friends (girl friends) and traffic again. If he takes the bus home, which he does, two changes in the rush hour, he gets here at seven. Too tired to do the homework unaided. It does not get done. School know, as I do, that shouting, discipline Thai style does not work for him. Surprise, he is my son. They suggest he boards. I agree. Ridiculous, the school ten minutes away with no traffic. I think it is best, reluctantly. Try walking Too far to walk and if he did he would be later and even more tired.

If he doesn't turn up today I'll show you the photos Mick sent me of his teenage years in King's Cross....it certainly opened my eyes to the Hipster's early financial success!

The lad just needs some good old fashioned English public school discipline....cold showers and 6am runs will cool his ardour .

Blether what is a Royal Sergeant Major? I've never heard that term before. In answer Smokes, there is no such thing as a 'Royal Sergeant Major'. calling an RSM anything different from WO1, Sir or Regimental Sergeant Major' would be a faux pas and a total insult to the RSM in question. Calling the RSM a Sergeant Major (WO2) would equally be a big insult. Surely only a fookwit would make this mistake?

The fookwit keeps sending me messages on the Archa appreciation site....I might have to block him soon. RSM fookwit ffs what a total plonker.

^^^ Impossible, this is home. Of the bike suggestion, very dangerous. Of the journey home, I have banned him from taking a motorcycle. The morning run is with a trusted driver. But that is not the crux of the problem. He needs help with his homework and I am not able to help. And my wife, nothing, not able to read or write. I think the school have his best interests at heart. The school is close by and we can see him after school any time. Week ends he will be with us.I think it is sensible.

Perhaps evening private tuition is a possibility..if he prefers not to board.
