^^^ Impossible, this is home. Of the bike suggestion, very dangerous. Of the journey home, I have banned him from taking a motorcycle. The morning run is with a trusted driver. But that is not the crux of the problem. He needs help with his homework and I am not able to help. And my wife, nothing, not able to read or write. I think the school have his best interests at heart. The school is close by and we can see him after school any time. Week ends he will be with us.I think it is sensible. Perhaps evening private tuition is a possibility..if he prefers not to board. Look at the bright side - if the laddie boards, that will give Buhi more time to post on Big Mango. Oh, ffs

A tutor, that means a set time, impossible. Thanks all for your input, it has helped me decide.

Well that explains it 100% for me. The fookwit keeps sending me messages on the Archa appreciation site....I might have to block him soon. RSM fookwit ffs what a total plonker. His old Dad would haunt him for making such a stupid and embarrassing mistake. Shameful. Shameful. Shameful. Are you saying that someone whose father was an RSM actually called him a Royal Sergeant Major? Oh my fricken god, if I would have reached the rank of RSM, I would have killed for much less. That is shocking.

I was a primary school teacher and as such, jack of all trades, master of none. Son is in secondary Thai education. I can not help. The maths is beyond me as they use different methods and Thai style only their method counts (pun). I taught to use a multitude of methods and please invent new ones. One genius did. I was floored. If he boards the teachers that stay will help him. Their methods. I have an intense dislike of Thai education and in a way am my son's worst enemy in that department. Of expertise, I am English /American literature and British social history. Not much help really.

I once got a pace-stick applied to the crown of my head for calling a Platoon Sergeant 'Corporal' during basic training.

Of that maths genius thank goodness I was not his class teacher. He was/is a text book genius. Very eccentric and oblivious to all around him. His class teacher of the time recounted to us all how he lost his cool and cool he was, but not quite as cool as me. "I was explaining how to multiply fractions when he interrupted, can we skip the preamble and get to the point. I am teaching the class not you!" Very funny, but I taught that kid. No I did not, I taught him nothing of maths, he was far advanced of me. Perhaps I might of taught him to be a little humble and thank the gods he was so blessed.

I'll have you know that my career path in the military was clearly marked out and I was heading for the grand rank of Captain lieutenant Major Field Marshal Corporal. However the pace-stick incident left me as a quivering alcoholic mess.
