Effin frogs.
I escaped to the country to get peace and quiet. And to be fair, no cockerel chorus, and the only time that the dogs howl is when some eejit runs past with one of those loudspeaker trucks.
But the frogs, wtf.
Anyone that says the Thai countryside is a quiet, relaxing place is gibbering.

Yai Lilly was going crazy with a machete in her hand, whats wrong yai? that tookay gohok chip hai. She couldnt sleep so she listened to the tookay, and counted the number of calls, then bought a lottery ticket, that didnt win, the tookay was headed for the cooking pot if she ever got her hands on it.

Frogs are amphibians, very ancient creatures. Their sound is quite pleasant, as is bird song. But perhaps you prefer mechanical sounds.

She couldnt sleep so she listened to the tookay, and counted the number of calls, then bought a lottery ticket, that didnt win, the tookay was headed for the cooking pot if she ever got her hands on it. First wife's Mother in CR, one night about 7.30 pm, taking out a bag of rubbish in one hand and some food for the dog in the other hand. Opened the back door, which opened outwards, and a bloody big tookay must have been up near the top of the door, it fell and landed on MIL's head ! She knew exactly what it was and froze, still carrying the rubbish and dog food, screaming. Wife and BIL were inside thinking "what's the crazy old woman doing now" ? Finally the tookay got sick of the racket and jumped off and ran away, MIL ran inside the house and all she could say was "Jump ! Jump!" I was away at the time, in Australia working, and missed out on seeing it. If you knew this lady and how scared she was of lizards you would realise why I laughed so hard when I heard what happened. In true Thai style they did a re-enactment when I got home.

Cock crow or a diesel truck with loud speaker on? Which do you prefer. I like the morning cock crows. And the bird chorus. Sad case am I not.

I live in Bangkok, about a mile from Chitralada Palace and almost nightly I see small frogs hopping along, know when it's sunrise because of some roosters crowing, next an assortment of dogs and cats, gingjoks, etc., etc. And of course all those people here

Of the sounds, natural, I love them.I am fortunate as to where i chose to locate, in Bangkok, as in my previous abodes. The dawn chorus, the frogs, tookays and the noisiest the koel, an asian cuckoo.
