I guess I'm lucky I can go to the One Stop Service Centre at Chamchuri Sq., near SamYan. Late February I went there in the afternoon, arrived just before 4PM and was gone hardly five minutes later. That's OK once every 90 days

I do wonder what has gone wrong with Chaeng Wattana. When it first opened it was a blessèd relief after the hell that was Suan Plu. For extension of stay I'd be in and out in less than an hour. Each year since the waiting time has got longer and longer. Wednesday last week I arrived shortly after 8:30 a.m. and got ticket number 55. I was eventually seen at 2:30 p.m., so six hours of waiting for a 10 minute process. Ludicrous.
I felt particularly sorry for a very frail and sick looking individual in a wheelchair who arrived after lunch. He was facing a much longer wait than I.
I wish they'd bring back the appointment system they introduced shortly before the floods, or introduced a paid-for priority queue. I'd be happy to pay a few thousand baht for either to save the wait.

Thad, why bother with the pleb office at CW? Nip on the BTS to Samut Prakan Immigration where they are professional and humane, most are in and out in 10 minutes or get a multiple entry visa and hop the train to Penang every three months or so?

Seconded on Samutprakarn, since the old battleaxe left (about 6 years ago) the place has become one of the best Immigration offices to deal with in Thailand.

That's OK once every 90 days For work permit I do the same - nice and easy visit to the one stop as my company uses an agent. They also usually do my 90 days. I just tried the 90 days online for future reference in case I ever needed it - be prepared and all that. For my visa though, I do that myself. The reason being is to keep it for extension of stay based on marriage. That way if anything happens to the job for any reason, I just carry on, life as it is If someone finishes their job they have something like 48 hours to exit the country (can't remember exactly), although you can get a 7 day extension, you still have to leave after that. Switching to extension base on marriage is an option - and that's what I did so I didn't have to leave - but a fair bit of admin.

Nip on the BTS to Samut Prakan Immigration where they are professional and humane I'm pretty sure the rules are that you must deal with the office in the province where you live. Do you have to give a false address to use Samut Prakan? Or do they just not follow the rules?

Too many quotes for this one, so I'll try to answer them all without hitting the quote button.
I don't have a Mrs, my maid is an idiot, I live in Buriram, I have never been to CW, no intention of ever doing so, my UK Passport is still valid for two and a half years but it only has two pages left.
The written rules are that you should deal with the office in your province, there is no Immigration Office in Buriram and the closest one in Surin make the rules up as they go depending on mood, hangover, shagged or not, or having a bad hair day.

I thought most had no hair days?
